Navigo V3 + heavy rain

I

IanG

Okay peeps, I mounted my Navigo V3 flush with the rev counter as far into the double bubble as possible.

Went out in the sunshine to try it out and got caught in a downpour of almost biblical proportions, the cars on the road were all running full lights & hazards and the road was flooding.

I always thought there was no way the rain could get that far under the bubble, but it did,in rather large amounts.

Anyway, the Navigo survived totally unscathed :doug so if anyone was wondering how weather proof they were................pretty damn good! :thumbup

Another recommendation for those that bought Navigons, go to Argos and buy yourself a hard (ish) case Pt No 568/0360

Its a Nintendo DS compatible case & replacement stylus kit (5 stylus) it fits the Navigon fine with room for spare cards etc and is going out the door half price at _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ £2.99p Bargain!

I agree, my Navigo V2 was tested on Saturday coming back to Kent from Griff's.

The heavens opened several times and I have to admit I was tempted to pull over and dismount the sat nav, but never did! :roll

Got back and I was expecting it to have a frosted screen and dodgy switches but it was and still is fine. :doug

I also had that horrible feeling ' I should have pulled over,**** ,it's to late now! ) :rant

Big sigh of relief when I got home to find it unscathed.

Wouldn't like to get it wet intentionaly though, I don't think they are as watertight as a Garmin or Rider. But for the price, can't be beat.

Neither can the case.

Even got some Motorola V3 Razr car charger leads for 0.90p each from fleabay to wire it into the bikes.

Not sure what size those are,the Navigo is H 78mm x W 97 x D 16. There is room to go about another 8mm on the H & 38mm on the W, depth probably about another 14/16mm diffficult to tell.

Wouldn't want to use all the space available,'cos there is some give in the case and although it will protect the unit from most damage it's not as rigid as say a spectacles case.

Still at under £3 beggars can't be choosers can they? :dunno

Thinking about all these mounts etc that one collects for these sort of things,if you've used the supplied cradle for dedicated bike mounts and are stuck for a way of using a GPS in the car the Univeral Phone Mounts from ASDA at £4 & £6 are worth a look.:thumbup

Looks good :thumbup But £41.99 ??? I only paid £52 for the Navigo! Think something more like a freezer bag will do me.

Who was it on here was looking to make a carbon fibre sun shield? One of them would probably keep a lot of the rain off.

Yeah Ian mate,

it's a little steep BUT it's completely waterproof, completely interchangable with all (3) of my bikes AND means i don't have to attempt to fashion something myself (which would undoubtedly end up in me turning green and throwing things around the house!!)

Worth the cash for that reason alone!!!
