Hi,

Taken me a while but finaly got some pics of me bike. Hope this works ok...

Done a direct swap for my 1999 Yamaha Thunderace so reckon I got a decent deal.

Had a quick question. My V5 document states it's a Aprilia RSV1000 Mille SP but from what I've been able to gather about the SP's I don't think it is actually this model. Can anyone confirm by looking at the bike or put me in touch with someone who can?

Looking forward to gettng out on it soon, reckon this weekend's MCN bike show will give me the nudge I need to get it taxed and ready for it's first 2012 outing!

Looks like quite a heavily modified bike bud ...................not sure what the cable tie is holding the rear brake pipe to the swingarm is.....you might want to check on that!
If its a 2000 model it is missing the ears off the fairing sides......

Sorry don't listen to me I know nada...:biggrin

Nice tidy bike, hope you get on well with it :thumbup
Very clean looking Ti can aswell with the original strap.

The brakes look different though, I thought the earlier, pre 01 bikes, had the red brembos fitted and that rear caliper looks like it came from a Ducati.

As Redratbike has said def not an SP, Ohlins, carbon fibre, cosworth ect...

Im not that far away from you and can often be found blasting through the Scottish borders :thumbup

Cheers for all the comments guys.

Just recently replaced the rear caliper and basically ordered the wrong one in so much that the brake line is in a different position. It is the correct caliper apart from that and hence the cable tie etc.

think the first mille's 98 tri colour came with the red brembo's..mines 2000 model def has gold ccalipers as standard

the can ist default aprila racing open can for 98-03 mille and i cant see any bodywork from a 03 there

aye mate my 2000 mod gold rear brembo kinda loud on the gold paint but still nice mate , i to came from a thunderace 98 red/white vgc .had mine 4 years bullet proof old girl wish i never sold it and keep as a second bike never had one bit of bother the 4 years i had it , unlike my good old mille had it 2 years now never done ******* around in the garage lol constant headache total pain in the ***** box at times but what a bike for the back roads mate 2 is better than 4 trust me lol , its fun time mate a blast up marys loch is what you need to get to know it .mohamed ali had one you know thats where he got the phrase from floats like a butterfly stings like a bee lol its true mate im not joking :thumbup when you filled out your log books for your bike did you tick the wee box that says you agree to permanent facial big grin :biggrin may the force be with you nab`blapp nab`nab:devious

loved mine to bits total great bike does what it says on the tin mate, when i was looking for a new bike to replace my thunderace i though R1 would be a good next step so got a lone of my mates 02 R1 for a days play ,big disa p mate after a few hours just wanted to get back home and take my ace out. the ace top speed was good for 170 ish but never done that on mine my top was just 165 (once lol) but thats not what i want from a bike any daft **** can go fast, its the bends i live for thats where the fun is for me. im lucky if i go over 140 even on motorways lol . but as for the thunderace its a good solid smooth powerfull good handling bike for its day and i will still scare you:thumbup but no way back for me im gonna be a aprilia man till the end lol ive got used to looking silly with my stupid grin lol :biggrin

Im at St Marys loch alot aswell Biff but ive got the good side to ride, from Celkirk, no sheep or cattle grids.
Obviously the Thunderace is more powerful but how much do you recon would it show against an RSV on the road?
Id bet that the RSV handles better though but how much better?
Do you think youre faster on the RSV?

after 4 years on the ace i could keep up with most on the back roads i could toss it about more like a 600cc bike and very stable big bike ,the kinda bike you seem to sink into not sit on lol , but ace v mille thats easy lol mille all the way and has the most faults to lol . the ace has a 5 speed gearbox wich made the bike quick of the mark and hold the gear longer could scare you at times .
but thats old news now mate ive moved up the the oh such fun class lol 2 years on and im still alive lol cant be bad .i hope to get a newer bike soon but not sure what rsv4 sounds nice but it will be another aprilia i think ,wont be selling the mille its to good and with the extras its sitting with its to good to sell .i only paid 1950 for it and its minted for 12 years old 18000 miles 7000 of them are mine
its the kind of bike that when your out on and you pull into a place where other bikers are even if its 12 years old ,you dont feel as if your not as good as them, like i did on my thunderace :e the ducati girls and boys and the brand new latest leathers and bike squad now i dont even think about that lol cause i know they cant and wont look down on me cause ive got a tool that does the job :rant :lol :bigthumb
