maybe with your help. been to look at an rsv1000r today. nice clean tidy bike but it has a history. its had a front end whack and has had to have the forks, fairing and frame replaced. it all looks as its been put together well and time and money has been spent on it. its just missin ohlins front forks but there about so ill just get some later. couple of questions about it if anyone has an answer. it has a REALLY big rad on it. instead of the standard 1 rad a side its got 1 big one that has the 2 on the side and one goin across the top so it looks like a letter "n" any idea what it is ? the next question is in the video attached, whats that rattlin noise ? it almost sounds like my hinkly triumph, is that right. i know its idlin fast. the noise seemed to be there all the time while test ridin it. the last question is, whats the red flashin light on the dash that says max on it ? i only went round to about 7-8grand so i dont think i was red linin it, so what could it be ? lookin forward to readin your answers and heres the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX5Mr_BEUIw&feature=youtu.be
 
You can alter the shift light default is 6k ..so it had a huge hit for a new frame maybe it now has race rad or I think a gixxer item has been fitted before by others

Can't do the video at the moment but the cam chain tensionerscan make a noise

With respect fella suggest you do more research on what you're looking to buy, even on a short cursory glance at the video it's wrong on quite a few levels.
 
Cheers for that Paul. that noise did bother me quite a lot. i was wonderin if it was the cam chain tensioner ? not havin heard one before but know there supposed to make a racket i thought it could be that. not knowin these bikes that well could you tell me what you think is wrong with it. never fancied one before as ive always had sat upright bikes. now ive felt the grunt of that engine i think i need one in my life :D
 
No worries, the problem with those phone videos is they amplify things disproportionately. Could be many things, cam chain distinct possibility but also clutch basket loose on its shaft, or something more terminal. They are pretty quiet engines normally. Given the engine noise, mis-matched bodywork, wrong forks etc unless it's very cheap I'd steer clear.
 
thanks again Paul. i think ill be leavin that bike well alone. been searchin on youttube for other rsvs and i cant find any with that rattle. as for cheap nuffin in denmark is mate. movin here from the uk. this place is takin some gettin used to in certain areas. 180%tax on motor vehicles so this bike is a tad under 6grand. and its a cheap one for over here too. they normally sit in the 8-10 range altho i have seen one around 16grand.
time to go lookin for another one

I typed gen 2 then changed it ba hastill not hada chance to look at the video
 
well since the first bike was a no go. hopefully this weekend ill be off to look at these 3 Aprilia, RSV Mille, 1000 ccm ? dba.dk ? been to see this yesterday aprilia rsv mille r ? dba.dk ? Køb og Salg af Nyt og Brugt nice clean original bike that seems like its been pampered in its life. just needs a headlight as its cracked and a new mudgaurd as this ones badly scratched and no hlins steerin damper, so good bargainin tools :) clutch was replaced 2 years ago and has a slight rattle till you pull the clutch in. its hardly noticable, is that an rsv niggle ?

Why not go back to the UK or over to Italy find a good specimen for cheaper and ride it back home? Does Denmark tax used vehicles being brought in? Can you import used vehicles?
 
180% import tax mate one the price of the bike in the 2nd hand market. dont work out any cheaper
