My mates Mille is a right **** to start!!

It has a tendency to flood from the start and then refuses to fire. He says that after he washes it it is even worse, leading to me to think that its a humidity problem?

Would the Valve clearences be part of the problem aswell? or TBs?

Any ideas Lads before he goes and screws up his sprag........................................................again

It'll be a process of elimination Areessmill. Milles can flood easily if the engine is not being tuned over quick enough. This would point to Battery / Starter Solenoid. This would be my first port of call.

Cheers Legs

He is going to bring it over this afternoon..........with a box of matched lol perhaps its Frankies french Brother??

It addition to the other stuff mentioned it's worth checking the air sensor connection in the left air duct.

That's a prime candidate for getting swamped by water when washing and if it's mis reading it will report incorrect info back to the ecu.
Could have corroded connections or just be duff.if he gets efi flash up at times it can indicate a problem there.

I can get the test readings for it if you need them. :thumbup

Cheers Colin

He really is at a loose end with it tbh, Hes gonna trailer it over this afternoon so we can get it in the garage and if so hes gonna leave it with me as he mentioned a box of swan Vestas lol

If you can get the readings for me that would be great!!

Just a quickie if I connect the 2 wires under the seat would it bring up the air sensor being faulty??

If so how do i go about doing the diag test?

ps Its gonna be a Long week lol

The diag will only show a solid fault with the air sensor but they usually just mis read rather than fail completely.

Be interested in the outcome of this...
My 2003 appear to flood very easy... If it doesn't fire the first time that seems to be it....

Have to re charge the battery, and then open the trottle to the stop :angry

Put in a new battery today, but still think it could be something else :dunno

Dont touch the throttle on starting just the starter on the left or you will knacker the Sprag Clutch and that is big spondoolies.

Keep the battery on charge and dont hammer the starter button for more than a couple of seconds

Normally wouldn`t touch the throttle at all....... open the choke and hit the button.....
If it doesn't fire the first or second time, that it, flooded :dunno

Hoping the new battery will solves the problem :)

Last couple of night have been cold..... so better off leaving it until the cold spell passes....... These just don`t like thew cold :angry
