my bikes sitting in a puddle of oil..

any one point me in the right direction - i woke on sunday to see my bike in a shiny multicoloured puddle..took it out to check oil once warm and it just pissed out more.. now - where would this oil most likely be leaking from?? (rsv 2001)

It could be one of a number of places. You'll need to remove the bellypan and middle farings and investigate. Check around the oil coiler pipes behind the front wheel. Also check the oil tank as these have a tendancy to crack if the bikes been dropped on the left hand side.

As my other half is up to his ears in bits of my bike (a 2001 rsv) due to an oil leek which appeared after replaceing the sprag, my bike spat oil all over the A12 and the back wheel of the bike now we have it in pieces and found the gasket on the crank case had had it now when the bike is parked up its the smallest drip when its under pressure it spits it everywhere, so check the jewbalie clips on the oil pipe as these can work lose and check the gasket.

On the up side.....

if it has spat its oil every where - atleast it won't go rusty!!!!!:thumbup
