My 2000 RSVR, few recent pics

R

Rich

Finally got round to taking a couple of better pics. I've had the bike about 6 weeks now and it's looking much better than when I picked it up (I think only Al saw it then)
Jobs done so far:
Replaced l/h switchgear as light switch was broken off
Replaced swingarm with non dented one
New genuine grips, fitted missing plate under bottom yoke
Unseized steering damper rose joints
Replaced rear undertray (old one had 'ears' cut off)
Fitted set of std indies and rear number plate mount. Had cheap and nasty mini indies fitted before and a bodged rear number plate bracket.
Replaced r/h fairing panel with a mint one from ebay (old one was scratched)
New battery and Yam solenoid and brown connector mod
Led tail light bulbs
Cleaned chain, fitted new sprockets (16/42, was 15/44!)
Drilled out rusty seized allen bolts on front mudguard, tapped out to M6 and replaced with stainless.
Sanded and lacquered front muddy and rear hugger (were very faded)
Plus loads of other odds and sods
Gave it a bloody good clean and polish :)

looks very nice. :thumbup

you need to get rid of those early dunlops though. They used to make me feel like i was going to wash out every time i rode on them. Too steep a drop into the corners, very un-nerving

Thanks Guys, the kind words make it all worthwhile :thumbup

Tyres were on the bike already and are quite new so I'm stuck with them for now as I can't really afford to replace them. They don't really inspire confidence though and seem very twitchy over white lines. Any recommendations for when I can afford to replace them? I'm not a particularly fast road rider and have BT020s on my Exup which I do like. Do they work on the RSV?

What bulbs did you get for the brake/tail LEDs? Everyone has a preference for tyres and you will get 101 different recommendations, I went for some Diablo Stradas becuase they were cheap (about £130 a pair) and had pretty good reviews, I was sick of going through tyres every 1500 miles and these seem to be lasting well (done about 1200 miles and not much visable wear on the rear) and have proved to have good grip and stability in wet and dry riding, I like to think I dont hang about too much either. I would buy these again. I think I got them from Busters or the like. Hope that helps!

These would do the job and drop straight in :)

I cocked up with mine and ordered offset pins so had to file off a pin to get them to fit :jack

Some vehicles need to add load resistor kits to simulate the resistance due to LED bulbs have lower resistance. Did u have to do this ?

I think that is for the indicators mate, as when there isnt enough load the relay flashes them too quickly. Cant see a problem with tail/brake lights though

Now that is a good question. There are a few makes and models i would use but it is down to personal preference. It looks like you have got D207 or D208's on yours more commonly known as dunlop ditchmasters. :puke

When you can, change them mate. The later qualifier dunnies are said to be much better but i'm sorry i won't be trying another pair again after the experiences i've had with ditchmasters in the past. Once bitten twice shy as they say. :rant:dowhat

As james quotes there are 101 answers. You need to weigh up your riding style and what you want to get out of your riding compared to the tyres.

Lovely looking early mille you have there though. It would be such a shame to end up sliding it because of crap rubber. Don't get me wrong some people can ride dunnies all year round and love them, i'm just not one of those people unfortunately.
