Just a thought...anyone feel a bit strange or tickled by the fact that we live a decidedly multicultural life in terms of products......
For instance...
Obviously I ride an Italian Bike, but I also drive a German car, play an American Guitar, use an American PC,wear American Jeans (but made in Holland/Turkey/Belgium),wear American Trainers (made in Taiwan probably!), watch a Japanese TV, Wear Boots from Northants (but made in Taiwan, I think), sit on a settee from China made from Chinese Cows (!!!?!)eat Indian food ( as much as possible), drink Austrailian wine/Dutch beer/Irish black stuff/French Brandy etc, etc.... what a great life! :devious

And at no point have you actually mentioned anything made in England!!

Thats a bit frightening.......

Don't make THAT much anymore really, do we! Thank god for Triumph who seem to be getting the market just right at the moment and going from strength to strength! Yes, I know 'I' don't support them but my brother has one so I'm going to sit on his laurels!! (Bike before last was a Triumph, I'll claim that)

Any thing made in the uk costs twice as much and just does`nt last ! Thats what i find ! Good old Tony Liar and his robbing squad have done to much damage ! There is no more GREAT in Britain !

DONT GET ME STARTED !!! :scared :locked :mad1

Oops, didn't mean to touch any 'raw-nerves' on this one. just an observation that our lives are touched by products from all around the globe on a daily basis.....Not really looking at why (UK is now a service orientated economy rather than a production based one).....But all the same it's a massive change from when I was young and obviously there are positives and negatives!!

Positives

aprilia mille
Xbox 360
Mini moto's
Cheap beer
Better clothing

Negatives

Drugs
Suzuki
Religoes products
and some more i can't remeber the rest

i can see what your saying it's really good that we live in a multicultural thingee :biggrin

It used to be that things manufactured in certain countries were truly inferior. Now, with a little inspection, we can generally tell whether it's crap or not. By and large, I love it !!:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

China will be interesting to watch. In the not too distant future I think there are going to be some really good bikes at good prices coming from there.

I have to hand it to Aprilia though, damn good bike with quality parts as standard that's priced sensibly, unlike Ducati. Fantastic bikes but you really pay to join the club............ then there's the reliability (he says bitterly :mad1)

When I use to work in the transport buisness travelling mainly between England and Italy it was amazing the things that were italian we use to take to Italy and the so called English products that we use to bring back from Italy to England.Couple of other examples is like some French Michelin tyres made in Spain and some Italian Pirelli tyres are made in the old East Germany so sometimes the things you are buying or using are not actually from the country of origin you think they are.....................

i did not know about the tyres what else did you see that is bike orientated ?:thumbup

Yep, all gets very confusing at times. If you look at tyres, as an example, you often see a different country of manufacture to what you expect. Multi-cultural? It's all beginning to blend into one big country/planet! (Right, confucius moment over :devious)

I just sold my Raptor and she's going international too: the G&G exhausts and the bar end mirrors are going to a bloke in the UK, the R&G crash bungs to a Swedish guy, and the Raptor itself to a Dutch dude :laugh :coocoo

Thanks, Sprocker ! Yeah it surprised me as well ! That Dutch guy just called me yesterday, dying to buy the Raptor.. He didn't even try to chip anything off my asking price :dowhat :laugh

Hey guys yes we buy alot of foreign stuff but thank god for the British after market Parts people, theres alot of Brit companys out there specialising in bike parts Beowulf,Pro-Bolt etc etc just so we can be a little different from the rest !!!

Congrats on "unloading" the Raptor!!:thumbup:thumbup I bet that'll take a bit of the worry off your mind. Now you can focus on spending proper amounts for Aprilia upgrades and performance bits!:doug

I wish!! :laugh But I'm graduating this year and I'll need all the money I can get.. I'm lucky I don't have to sell the bike ! :dowhat :)

Keep the faith. If you're graduating this year it means that you've successfully finished the previous years.:thumbup You need something to break the monotony of study and the bike gives you a great outlet to just unwind and relax.:biggrin

It might be nice to find work in a field related to your major that was also associated to bikes. Aprilia's are a definite statement of individuality and in my book that's a positive!:biggrin

Keep it up, you can do it!:thumbup:thumbup

Thanks for the heads up :thumbup
It's been a real carnage in college.. in the first year 23 got selected out of a 140 people during an exhausting entrance exam that lasted 5 days.. nuts!
Then after the first year only 12 of the 23 were allowed to go on.
After the second year only 6 got through..
And now there are only three of us left to graduate (it's a four year program) !! :coocoo
There are a 4 foreign students who do their masters degree with us, so actually there will be 7 people graduating.
So I'm very glad I made all the cuts, though it was a close call sometimes.
If you have to make a minimum of 7 films each year under a lot of time pressure, you're bound to screw a number of them up..
But it stays a school, and you have to be allowed to make mistakes. :)
Over the years I did make a few things I'm proud of, some of them are being used for educational purposes (for example: I made a documentary on the emancipation of Muslim women, and it is now used by women's organizations all over the country and for debates etc..) :thumbup
I also made an underwater documentary on dolphins last year, with good result too!

Right, before I get carried away too much.. :laugh Sure I'd like to find work in a bike-related environment!
