MRA-Xcreen ?

G'day all, I've been wondering if an MRA-Xcreen would be an effective solution to the wind noise generated by the standard screen.... Has anyone tried the system? - I'm 5'10" and can duck down into the quiet zone, but if the MRA-X is a true tamer of the turbulence then I'd tend to go in that direction rather than buy another screen (which may/may not work any better). Once we get the Rally version in stock, I might get a test ride to compare it's larger screen with my Touring version's screen.......once we get stock.....still waiting......

Givi do a replacement screen that's very effective. I use one and it's a 100% improvement on the standard item

I have the MRA screen with the diffuser and after a bit of trial and error I managed to get the diffuser in a position that, combined with the better screen, means that it's like riding in a bubble; no buffeting at all.
I'm 6ft but the MRA screen will work with different heights of rider.

Thanks for the feedback - I'm thinking I'll buy a Givi screen, though the bike world is a bit odd here with everything being 'order' without seeing. Anyway, I bought an MRA Xcreen sport today and though it won't really fit the standard Capo screen, I'll keep it and fit it to the Givi if needed (it is something that can follow me from bike to bike so it's not wasted if I don't use it now).

Hi, not sure what you mean when you say it won't fit. The X-Screen sport I bought is a complete assembly with a screen and adjustable deflector which fitted straight on and works well. Are you saying you only bought the deflector?

Hi B787, I guess so! That's what the agents sell here as an X-creen sport ($160aus). I'm manufacturing some metal brackets that I intend to use to locate the 'deflector' in position without needing to be attached to the 23mm wide standard screen. That way I can play with settings until I 'see' the new Rally Capo's screen or spot a Givi/MRA screen. If it works I'll be well pleased, if not, I've got a deflector that can be used on a future bike.

Hi all, Had a look at the updated Aprilia site (thanks to a post on the AF1 forum) and lo and behold there is a 'tall screen kit' listed.....but I've mounted my 'sport' deflector so I'll test it this weekend. Pity I didn't think to have a look at the site before I splashed the cash...lesson learn't...cheers:eek:

ps Deflector works well with the standard screen - though the brackets I had to make are ugly! Anyway, if I hadn't rushed into this I would be buying the MRA screen with the deflector attached in a smoke tint - I'm only a leprechaun at 5'9" or 174cm, so all I needed to do was steady the airflow, and the deflector does that well. Rumble/roaring noise gone, and I can lean a little forward at high speed into the 'air bubble' and it is silent. There isn't any stock available at the importer/distributor's for another 8-10wks in the land of Oz anyway (that's Givi, MRA and Aprilia)......

Just installed smoke puig screen on my capo ..its taller and I dont get any helmet buffeting on the lowest setting and I am 6ft 3in tall. I recommend this screen. Getting led running lights, e-scott oiler , radguards and a bigger back sprocket (up 2 teeth) this week) ..will keep all posted...jn

Hi ratty, only 2 teeth eh?.......one tooth on the front is similar to 3 teeh up on the back, but others have the used the 44 tooth rear and seem happy with that.

I've got the 16/42 combo and it is great......4000-4250 rpm in 6th at 100kph (4500 for 110kph) (garmin) is fine and has no effect on touring economy. The engine prefers it as it is right in the best smooth zone for our official speed limits 100-110kph.

Whichever way others go, it is an improvement on the 17/42 spec gearing that nobody likes as Ist is like second gear on every other brand of bike...

Cheers.;)
