hi all
my mpl slave cylinder finaly arrived today ,is it a case of just taking the old one off and fitting the new one and then bleeding or are there any pitfalls i should be aware of

cheers

Nope, as you said.....reverse fill it....it worked for me and has been fine ever since

Is the MPL slave cylinder worth buying and where from, or is a replacement seal in the original gonna do the same trick? What's the advantage's??? Mine at the moment keep's turning the fluid black? Sick o bleeding it every 2 week's.

From what ive red on here the fluid turning black is perfectly normal, im sure someone will be along to correct me lol.

If its turning black, buy a new seal and replace it, then get some silicone grease (made for o-rings, can be bought from plumbers/dive shops/pool shops etc and smother the inside of the slave with it. The fluid turns black becuase the seal wears away from lack of lubrication, the small black particles pollute the fluid and this wear also causes premature failure of the seal. There have been many success stories using this method, I have done it on my recent bike and the fluid has been clear and clutch working flawlessly for 2000 miles.

It took me 3 weeks from the same seller and a paypal dispute :jack

Lot lighter clutch action and the clutch releases earlier so your clutch hand has an easier time.

good mod to do.

ps check your chain tension should be about 22mm/25mm movement max

hi guys
took her out for a proper run tonight the clutch is a lot lighter and as areesmill says ,,definatly worth doing
mind you areesmill ive been waiting over 3 weeks for a clutch jet from rsvr i rang them last week and was told they are waiting for them to come in from aprilia it would have been nice of them to e mail me and let me know it was nt in stock they were quick enough to take my money
cheers bones

Ahh, that would explain why I've been waiting a week and a half for mine then,as you say a call or email would have been nice.

Or a " sorry out of stock currently, expected in xx weeks " would have been even better. Still I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I've just fitted my Slave cylinder from teh same guy on ebay. To be honest i can;t tell the difference from what it was like before.

HAve i done something wrong?

I fitted my MPL and new .40 jet 2 weeks ago - all good, clutch nice and light - neutral at the lights - no probs. But fluid still black?

But now I have seen the .40 jet its just a bloody carb jet that i used to piss about with changing back in the old 2 stroke days dependant on the weather etc to get max poke (smell that oil) and it cost me £6 odd - rubbish!!! For anyone else doing it just go to a carb specialist who holds a stock of carb jets - simples!!!!

hi millie monkey
i have to admit my clutch even tho its a lot lighter in action than it wa s i still wouldnt call it light my mate who owns a ktm adventure couldnt believe how heavy the action was even with this mod well took the piss guess its one of those mille things you have to live with
