Looking to head to le mans for the moto gp in may, going to get a ferry from dover to calais on friday 17 at the crack of dawn, stay over as close to lemans as possible to get some beers in and soak up as much atmosphere as we can, watch the qualifying and practice laps on saturday and the race sunday to head back afterwards.

Last time we went we were just going to follow a Sat nav and avoid motorways but as one of my mates came off his bike we ended up taking motorways/toll roads the entire journey due to the delays..

Anyone know any particular must ride roads in that general direction?

Bring on the summer!

If anyone fancies coming along your more than welcome..

Quite a few of my mate's live close to Dover so we're thinking about going for a longer ride.. think I'll be giving them a call to get them down my way. Sounds like rhetoric better roads will be found over those way..

Went in 2011 had a bit of a mare as arriving at Dover friday 13th at 5.30am to catch 6 am ferry got a message the mrs had been rushed into hospital during the 2 hours i had been gone!!

rode straight back to the hospital..she was discharged at 10, i was back on the road and on the 12:30 ferry and had to ride by myself to le mans ..turned up an hour behind all my mates who had only just got to the bar...lol

nothing came past me on the autoroutes that day :devil

Lol, hope all was ok?

I was thinking it seemed a bit silly going all the way to dover to come back on myself.. You did well arriving only an hour behind them! Must have cost a fair bit on the tolls? ;)

I have registered on bestbikingroads.com this week but havent had time to check it out properly yet..

Cheers though looks like a good site

Well it was a gall stone but led onto having her gall bladder removed and half her liver when they discovered on a scan she had neuro-endocrine tumors attached ,same disease Steve Jobs from Apple died from. But fingers crossed she has just had the all clear.

But on a brighter note most tolls motogp weekend are free for bikes...go to the far right of the toll boothsand there is normally a small section coned off for bikes to ride through,..think I only paid once

Bliley hope it all works out.. we found that at only one last.. I rode round the side and my mate stopped at a barrier, paid then was rushing to put his helmet and gloves on and it came down and conked him on the head lol he did have his helmet on by then hahaha wish I had it on camera.

Hi mate, we are staying here for 2 nights. It has under ground parking which is handy. It is about 2 hours or so from lemans..

When are you thinking about going? Were leaving on the 18th may and coming back on the 20th

I'm not sure yet mate, just looking at a few options. I went a few years ago and stayed at a camp just outside le man. Was a great w end.....Trouble is they got greedy an put the prices rite up for 2013. Their taking the piss a bit this year tbh an just cashing in on it :rant

Yeah we found that.. we are paying 40 each for 2 nights which aint bad..

i've done some great stretches of road from just outside calais along coast

can get a list of some of the places passes through

Going from dover and visiting family on route.. cant wait :thumbup

Newhaven to dieppe is a good shout, used to take that ferry when I was a nipper to pick up bangers lol
