Put the bike in for an mot today and it failed! was a little gutted and suprised.
the bike its self passed ok, even the guy said I had a good back brake:dowhat
The failure was on the rear sprocket! didnt know this was covered by the mot bummer, the sprocket is shot, teeth curled over and a couple broken:dowhat oops

Picking up my 44/16 srpockets tomorrow, how easy it to change the front sprocket? whats the tourque settings etc? would it just be easy to pay them to fit the things.

Im off work thurday so have some downtime to pamper the bike :thumbup oh and what tourque rench and socket will I need?

Depends how much they want to charge you Garv - it's not difficult. My manual says 50NM for the front sprocket torque - don't forget a bit of loctite on it as well.

Piece of piss mate. Pop some pics up to show my other one to shame please dude

Just make sure you undo the front sprocket with the chain still on the rear wheel.

Otherwise you just keep turning the engine over trying to undo it!!!!!

And you will need a chain breaker/rivetter as well...

(Just in case bike is your only transort and you realise this once the chain is off!!!!) :thumbup

I read somewhere that you can change the sprockets and chain for a 520 profile chain. Narrower, lighter, less mass, less inertia and all that malarkey. is it worth doing and is there any downside?

chances are the chain is also fooked if the back sprocket is that bad !!.
Get yourself a decent chain (hopefully your sprockets are a good quality).

A torque wrench like this http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cht141-1-2in-drive-torque-wrench should be suffcient.

You need to get a mate round to stomp on the back brake (bike in gear helps too) while you undo the front sprocket nut - DO NOT use the torque wrench for this , use a breaker bar).
Once the nut is loose cut the old chain off , take the front sprocket off , remove the back wheel and remove back sprocket.
To refit front sprocket you will need to put a goodly amount of threadlock on the bolt then torque up to 50 Nm, get mate to stomp on back brake while doing this.
Adjust chain to 25mm slack

ENJOY

I am not the most mechanical of people (understatement) but I changed mine a week ago, fairly easy ... I'm assuming you have a paddock stand?

you can but a 520 chain would not last as long, they are more race orientated and I doubt in real world use you would notice any performance increase :dunno

on my kwak it had a washer that bent over the nut to stop it moving, this had to be replaced. whats the nut size. make sure I got the spocket.

as for 520, not bothers on shaving weight on the bike, im not goinna notice the difference. picking the bits up tomorrow so cant wait. hjaving a day of playing with the bike :) brown wire, chip fitment etc.
