Took the mille for it mot today and they tried to fail it on the brake rivits for being loose, they said that there shouldnt be any play in the disc , i told them they are floating discs, they tried to tell me that the rivits were worn. i believe that they are bobins and not rivits so i argued the case and in the end they phoned vosa, telling them that the disc rivits were loose i was well pissed off ant they new it, in the end vosa said it was up to them either fail it or pass it with a advisery so in the end the passed it with a advisory.

Any one else on here had a problem at mot time , they are standard brembos with clean spinning bobbins they do chatter when you push the bike but that not bad is it ?

Last mot they tried to tell me the discs were warped thats why i freed up the bobbins

im an mot tester

its always down to whos doin the test and time of test
ive got a set that gingle like a good un and a older set thats as tight as a nut
id get one more set of eyes over them to check

were u from dude?

cheshire

All i have done is loosen the spring washers on the bobins they were tight so it must still be safe ?

I know a lot of people will dissagree but new discs are tight to the carriers, over time you get play in them, when they become sloppy they are ******. If you get vibration through the brakes the discs are warped, so they are ******! A new set of Armstrong discs are £250.00 It's your life! I wouldn't rely on a shagged out set of discs pulling me up from 170, it's up to you, most people wouldn't think twice about spending that much if it was for a new can or a bit of carbon fibre

i used to be a car mot tester so i know about the test being down to the testers disgretion but having had a set of new but scrubbed metz racetecs on the bike i took it for an mot it passed but the tester said to me your tyres are a bit close im not failing them but just letting you know they are worn i kept my mouth shut and took the mot but had to wonder at the testers idea of worn tyres
