R

redratbike

just seen these on the bay item number 120432374645

never heard of this mod before...does it work ..is it worth it??:dunno

I know a guy that has just done this mod and told me it is the best mod he has ever made to his 03 RSV Mille R. He said it does increase performance in the bottom end and he was rapt with it.

I have read other threads on this quite awhile back, and YES it is supposed to be one the best mods you can do to the exhaust.

Try some searches, one of the other guys will find it for sure. The only reason I dont do this to mine is I have the titanium evo headers and its too much expense on those, 1.8kg lighter alone :devious

If I went back to the standard ones this would become 1st on the mod list.

Cheers Pete

done mine on a 03 R,supposed to give same midrange as a twin pipe setup,& didn't cost me a penny,yep better midrange & bottom,recommended

Vince, did you make your own or just fit some you bought?

Hi Stu,I cut all the bits to fit & got the local bike shop to weld for me,he does a lot of custom work & likes cash jobs, but we just exchange favours,I did pick the manifold up of ebay & have got 2 sets in the garage loft & was gonna get those done to sell, but like everything else,to busy and haven't got round to it,try my bike next week when Griffs down if you like

This is all new to me...

Surely this will cause a lack of top end then if the low rpm performance increases?

I can't afford to lose top end!

Dont forget that the early engines (twin plug models) will never produce the horsepower of the single plug models owing to the head design (small valves because of twin plugs versus big valves of the single plug models)

You can play with exhausts , airboxes and mapping etc and get gains from any engine, but if you cant pump the gases through the engine you cant make horsepower.

thanks for the replies guys...mmmmnnn food for thought...my mates a coded pipe welder so during the winter i could pull them off...any body got any info on the pipe diameters involved?

someone must think they work they sold for £118 + £35 postage,

any body gots and specs on the size pipes required for this mod?

Believe this mod was done for the MRO Powerbike race series so the single can Apes put out similar power as the twin Acro equiped bikes.

There is much more info on the 'other' aprilia forum :devious

However, the front loop is OD 1.3/8" x 18 SWG 304 bent on a 2.1/2" CLR ,not sure what dia the rear is although it looks to be smaller.

I was thinking of going about 1.1/4" Dia. From what I've read the full Arrow & Acro systems already incorporate similar pipework.

Everything I've read about this mod is good,it's supposed to give a real bump in power, especially in the mid range I gather.

The size of the connecting pipe is not that importat. Its only used to level the presure between pipes. I think :D

The link pipe is made of 308 Stainless steel & is 1 1/4" or 30mm OD {outside diameter }
This is from Scott that gave me the info.

will this work on the 2000 rsvr or not?? remember seeing a pic of the 2 pipes together and they looked different..could be wrong??..:dunno

Yes will be ok for a 2000 model. the pipes you are looking at are from a 2003 Mille R, so yes they are a little different to a 2000 model.

The ones on ebay also had another pipe added from the rear down pipe to the main/link pipe is this right?:dunno

copy and paste the item number and look :dowhat
