My 2010 T has 3,700 miles on it has lost its water out of expansion bottle, can't read the speedo due to fogging up, noticed i had rattled a bolt out from the headstock that bolts on the headlight fairing!:banghead - is this what I should expect from a modern bike? If it didn't handle and go so well I would sell it! Its still under warranty, but dealer (J&L in Carlisle) said they're all like that!:crazy

No they`re not. Nothings dropped off mine (I don`t think so ??). Clocks fog up but I tend to look where I`m going and as for P.O.L, well thats your dept.

Keep your eye on things lol

Clocks, they all fog up, Like hec says look where youre going and ignore it.
Fluids, thats your job to keep an eye on them, was the expansioon bottle ever full from day 1.
Nuts falling of could be the dealer not doing the PDI thorough enough

Now just get on it and ride the thing :T

Nothing has ever fallen off mine, the clocks have never fogged even under monsoon conditions on a week out trip. Charging issues now after 40K km...

Oh, and the rear brake is either spot on or non existent. No in between.

ah did a wee thread a whley back aboot " whits fell aff yours" as plenty hud rattled loose oan mine.

Seems the I tie jossers must hae a limp wrist when it comes tae wieldin an allen key as evri thin wiz gie loose...

Recommend a quick weech roond wi the auld 4mm key everi noo an again as bein V Twins there a fair bit o vibes come wi the territory....

an thirs nae excuse fur lettin yer fluids run low..first rule o the job min...

Welcome to the wonderfull world of Italian motorcycles!
In the bad old day, Ducati's were poorly made and reliability shocking.Take my 1990 900SS fer instance. No grease on the rear spindle from new,...so when I tried to remove the wheel for a new tyre, the spindle was seized in the swingarm.Big hammer and heat gun to get it out.Died on me one night when the battery terminal fell off.Fairing never went on the same way it came off.Re-fitting involved a lot of pushing and pulling to get the fixings in.Fairing was held together with wellnuts that would seize regulary.
My 851,...Big end failure, rear brake pads fell out.Rust in the tank blocked the fuel filter, then the regulator burnt out,.....and dont talk to me about 916 regulators,....3 units in 1500 miles!
Mrs KB owned a new Laverda Diamante,...beautiful bike but, headlight mounting was crap.In the dark, all you could see from the lights was the inside of the fairing. All the relays were mounted on a thin plate under the seat,.....on a bumpy road they would shake out of the holder, causing the bike to stop.
Ducati 900 Monster,...main relays under tank fail so the bike wont start,Its happened a couple of times,so we keep a couple of spares under the seat.
999,..week batteries, cracked rear exhaust flange and broken rear subframe.
These are just a few problems I have suffered, others have had burnt out alternator wiring, valve gear rockers failing,(£100 a pop!)side stand and oil light switches failing.
So its not just 'Prilla's that have probs.Big 'ol Vee twins vibrate like buggery which loosens bolts and causes bits to fall off.It also creates havoc to delicate electronic components.Every time I clean the bike,I have a bit of a poke about and check that nothing has fallen off/come loose.Plus check chain tension, fluid levels, etc.

Bandi, ma clocks mist so bad yer can see nought, nae back brake but I don't think anythings fallen off yet. Oh and ma back tyres useless.

You should go over the bike yourself and check/look at everything you can. Buy some good tools and learn how to use them. Follow the manual for what fluids to use and buy quality replacements. Becoming "intimate" with the T will bring you joy even when you cant/arent riding. I havent had anything in a dealer in 20 years. Done all my own work and will till I cant ride anymore. then Ill just try. Oh and no, Ive never owned a new bike. Too cheap a *******. Since Tifa has dibs, if he dont get it, im next up.

Spot on WC min....nae exuses fur ignorance...its amazin whit ye kin learn jist by gettin in aboot things!
