Mine is an -01 RSVR and quite frankly the mirrors are just for the MOT, but do you see from them is an other thing.

Is there any good and good looking way to improve the rear view?
Mirror extenders are not available or are they?

What about a mod with -04 onwards mirrors any help?

Mine are great compared to my ZX6R.

But then again I'm a short arse and believe tall people do have issues seeing where they've been.

I find if I set them so they lay low I have an excellent view over the rear of the tail piece. You've just gotta play with them and find a position that suits you best.
 
got some spacers from ebay for my 08. black anodised aluminium blocks with extended bolts from busywoo. check rsvr.net.

I never rely just on mirrors, they're pretty limited viewing at the best of times, ...always do a lifesaver before pulling out :thumbup
 
Would suggest the later mirrors are actually worse than the MIlle one's...as for their useage...not at all bad for a sportsbike...just use the olde lifesavers as Sprocker suggests!
 
The mirrors on the older 1st generation pre 2003.5 bikes are very good. It's the later 2004 onwards bikes that have poor mirrors.

The mirrors are great! I see the inside of my forearm very well!

I understand the bolt spacing for the pre-'04 is different that the later ones. There are extenders, that probably won't fit, for sale for the later bikes. I would think the earlier bikes would have their extenders, too.

What I did for mine seems to work, it is better than it was. If you remove the mirrors and then slide a suitable washer on the rear mirror mount BETWEEN the fairing plastic and the fairing metal support, it will change the mirror's angle of view so you don't have to have your chin on the tank to see. This works for my 6'4" frame.

That being said, do the "lifesaver" head check always. Look with your own eyes before shifting lanes.
 
:thumbup good info there chris.I am 6 '4 too and I have a 02 and 07 and the mirrors on the 07 are really good for looking at my forarms too.I will try the washer and see how it works although it is pissing rain here in So Cal.thanks for the tip Donnie:biggrin
 
well i actually thought of trying to make the glass mirror be able to swing more so as to get a higher view. you know how u can move them in , out and left and right?
 
I get to see a very shaky version of whatever's behind me - makes for a fun game of plod roulette.

I'm toying with getting a car style reversing camera and screen off ebay & fitting under my screen in addition to the mirrors
 
falco mirrors fit and are slightly longer, worked well on my mille R. Deff worth a go as there are plenty on egay for little money
 
There is just not 1 definitive answer here of how long each/year type of mirror is...........bar getting those mirror extenders I'm still not sure from all these posts if you will actually be buying long stalked mirrors ............all very confusing!!!
