Mille fuel leak

Hello everybody!

First time posting on this site. Help & advice needed. My 01 model RSV Mille has been off the road for 4 months following a fuel leak at the base of the fuel pump. It appears that the plastic fuel tank has warped and may need to be replaced. Anyone else experienced this problem and, if so, how did it pan out? Where could I look for prices on a new tank? The fuel leak happened in my garage which is directly under my apartment and if the fuel had ignited...

Advice appreciated.

Do a search on fuel leaks...theres been a couple of threads recently on here i think....might point you in the right direction :dunno

Hi Goose, my 01 had a fuel leak on the tank, turned out to be a manufacturing problem and was replaced with a new one under warranty. As the bike was one of the fist 01s, Aprilia were very keen to get the tank back to HQ for inspection. The leak came from an almost invisible crack where the tank almst touches the frame. There was a question over warranty as the bike was an import from Taz and as an alternative sanding and epoxy resin was favoured

With the amount of heat these babies give off i'm not surprised they warp, i know there have been a few in the USA but it must be a batch of bad tanks.:dunno

CK thanks for the offer - hope it doesn't come to replacing the tank. Still trying to sort out the leak. Love your bike by the way, I thought mine was costing me...!
