mille 03 intermittent diag 1

Hello all, just finished rebuilding a mille I brought off ebay and I just noticed the diag 1 message pop up on the right hand dash.

I've read a few posts re tps sensor and data tool issue's. After looking at my bike I've noticed the data tool has been removed

I'm confused and need help, what does diag 1 mean? When I move the tick over screw it changes to-1 or 0.

When I try to start my bike it just keeps turning over tryin to start, then I notice the clock appears, what is occurring

Diag 1 is TPS -
Are you saying bike will not start?
Does the bike do the full precheck when switched on?
Next is fuel and spark.

Yes the bike wont start now, which is annoying as it was running a few days ago. Not sure what the prechecks are sorry. When i turn the bike on dash lights up, hear the fuel pump kick in. Right hand side dash goes from EFI to either daig or straight to normal function clock etc.

I noticed that the tilt sensor was showing bare wires so changed the tilt sensor but no joy. I pulled the plug to check spark and noticed that nothing was there, again confused as was running a couple of days ago.

Stuffed now as battery has died again, not sure if this is important but whaen i reconnect the battery from being recharged the rev counter needle jumps around, is that normal?

Very good battery is vital - you run the risk of start sprag clutch failure otherwise.
Start with rechecking the wiring under the seat and around the ignition coils - including making sure the tilt sensor is correctly sited.
With the diagnostic wires joined turning on the power should show more than just the TPS error if the ECU can detect any faults.

Feel like i know nothing about my bike, Where are the diagnostic wires??
 
Evening managed to get the bike running yeah. Only problem is its running at 4 thousand rev and the tick over screw not doing anything, any idea?

Sounds like the choke(fast start) is stuck on
What if any diagnostic codes is it throwing up?
 
No codes, I'll check the choke sticking. Thanks for help
 
Hi yeah all sorted now she's running lovely, thanks for all your help. One more question Speedo problems that's stopped working is it just a replace or can they be fixed.

That could well be the speedo sensor - next to rear brake calliper - known to fail
