In a bit of a quandry..

Had my RSV 3 years now, (06) and it's now hit 25,000 (trouble free bar one speedo sensor and fork seal)

Still runs and looks great..But how long do I keep it? Financially, no longer in a position to buy another new bike, so do I keep this or change for a lower mileage bike..

:D Just ride that wheels orf the one ya have matey :pirate

Trouble free... says it all.

I've just tipped over the 27000 mile mark and reckon the engine is just about run in !!, Keep the oil changes regular and make sure the valve clearances have been done properly and you should get 50-60 thousand miles no problem at all :)

The way I see it you have 2 options............

1. When it starts to get tired, I'll take it off your hands :devious

2. BIG BORE KIT .......... 1060cc would be lovely

Mmmm..:roll..

Way I see it..It's still worth a reasonable amount because of year, but if I keep it much longer, the mileage will be sky high and value slashed, so if I sell soon, I'll not have to put too much to to up grade..But, another quandry..I don't like the newer colour schemes. Gold frames? yuk..Sorry for anyone who likes them..

Juries still out..

if there is nothing wrong with your current one what benefit at all do you get by selling it to fund purchasing a new one? you would lose alot of money

if it has done 25k in only 3 years i think most people would consider that quite high mileage if you think you can still find bikes over 5 years old tht have only done a few thousand

mine has only done 11k but i intend to keep riding it until it dies, then i will fix it and ride it some more :biggrin

if you are that concerned you may aswell buy a new engine and have it fitted, heck it would probably be less money wasted than selling the bike now to fund a new one :dunno

just my 10 pence :eatcorn

Miles used to put me off a little. everytime the miles got to high the bike would be sold. not bloody now!

My rsvr is gonna stay (unless a letter rsvr comes along :lol). its coming up to 3k miles since i've owned it for about 5 months. I reckon my bike was designed to be ridden not polished and kept in a clean garage.

If you love the bike then keep it. good serving then the bike will be tops.

enjoy the ride :)

I put a lot of miles on bikes. I recently traded mine in with 14500 after 2 years on an '07 plate. The dealer reckons it should have had about half that on it!! You're bike is in the same bracket as mine, you're already past the thoughts you're having. Personally I think the mileage thing with bikes these days is just something the dealers keep going to beat us down on price. They never seem to mind miles when they are selling :rant

Brought my 03 with 8000ks /5000 miles on it it now has 48,000 ks / 30,000 miles & goes harder than the day I brought it without doing any motor work . Checked the valves for the first time at 38,000 still Factory spec so haven't touched them again . Value of bike drops so much now its not worth changing them unless you have a good amount of spare cash to keep up with the depreciation that happens after a year of owning them .

I just removed me battery for a week, then refitted it, and hey presto odometer read zero miles,:dunno felt like new straight away:devious

Nowt wrong with gold frames, Boyler does a smashing line in carbon fibre frame guards that cover that up a treat.

I usually ride the bikes till I get bored of them and then chop them in for another little adventure. However, I think I may have this RSV for some time yet, although I am very tempted by the RSV4.
