Evening all, I need some help, after the battery went flat on my mille due to being left off of the trickle charger for a month, I'm now having real problems I think with the alarm. After the battery was fully charged everything seemed back to normal. Until one day the alarm wouldn't switch off then whilst pressing the key fob it beeped 3 times quickly and now the alarm doesn't work or respond at all. You could turn the key and start the bike. But now I get diag 1 on the dash and the bike won't vturn over. When you turn the ignition you get the start up sequence but when you press the starter button all you can hear is the fuel pump. At a total loss now and I'm desperate to get out on it. Any help is much appreciated.

I've taken the alarms off all the bikes I've had they always seem to cause problems when they are a few years old! My advice would be remove it as it sounds like it's immobilised the bike as a fail safe.

I think that's what I'll have to do, but I'm not great with electrics and wouldn't know where to start and can't afford garage.

To be honest an auto electrician would probably only charge an hour? I do did mine myself but literally cutting out the module on my firestorm. I was all under the seat unit

It's not something as simple as the plipper needing a new battery?

PS. Bike alarms are a pain in the ***. They serve little practical purpose in my view. So far, I've uninstalled 4 or 5 of the things. It isn't difficult . . .but . . . you really do need to understand electrics, otherwise you can end up in a worse mess.

No it's definitely the alarm, I went out to have another look at this afternoon, I turned the ignition on and the engine started turning over. I switched it off and the alarm module started burning and smoking. So as a result the offending item has been surgically removed. I had a look at it and it was pretty simple. Problem solved.

Great stuff! I've twice been stranded by failed alarms in the past. Now I remove them as a matter of course. Professional thieves don't worry about alarms anyway, and amateurs can be deterred by a stand alone device such as an alarmed disc lock.

Glad I did it myself in the end. Looking forward to giving it a good run now. Really not bothered about alarms. As you say they are more trouble than their worth.
