This isn't aimed at anyone in particular it's just a general rant. A lot of people buy aftermarket parts for bikes, then generally mumble/grumble/sell them if they don't fit. I bought a suspect looking titanium tri-oval end can from ebay the other day. The ad said 'gsxr? fitment'. When I got it, it had spring hooks on the the pipe from the can, was a 60.83mm inside bore and had no link pipe. The hanging bracket was in the wrong place and didn't fit the can. The can was titanium, and the pipe couldn't be welded to the stainless link pipe I had. 2 days later, I'm now running this on my 2000 RSVR. How? by using whitchcraft? By spending hundreds of pounds? No. Simply by using a £4.00 exhaust clamp, a £4.95 tube of exhaust putty/paste, a bit of thinking and some elbow grease. Is it perfect? No not yet, the newly welded one off link pipe needs either polishing or covering to finish it off. Does it work? Like you wouldn't believe. Some of you might not have access to a welder or someone who knows how to use one, but I do and I maintain that you can get help from anyone on the zone for things like this. I myself offer my welding skills/genreal engineering advice for favours. Just because parts don't arrive already attached, I think we should all stop moaning and spend a little bit more time in the shed/gargae/next door's drive. Rant over. TT

Totally agree with you, I build hybrid bikes for a hobby. Very satisfying getting parts & making them fit.

I have been talking to a nice man off the PB forum about getting a hanger and strap made up for my can, he seems to build turbo'd bikes and specials as a hobby so should be able to help?!?. It still wiggles, and the strap I bodged up has snapped- not sure if it was a crap strap, or I weakened it when I re-bent it, or it was just too far down the can and the strain killed it.

My strap....

i'll forgive you lol..thats the nutz

was talking to a guy the other month he had a puma(?) 480/490 bloody frightening in a ypvs frame..think it had a single swinger and i'm sure you know it if you move in that world ...lol

so all my mates that had tuned 350lc's years back told me they didnt really handle that well ..what are they like with the rgv kit fitted????

Handles like a modern bike, especially if you brace the frame. Here's a single swinger one I'm building at the moment with a GSXR K4 front.
