Hi,
I have seen a few adverts in the press,BSB meets etc for these tyres and after a bit of online research have found that they have a pretty good write up,stuff i have found is mostly about track riding though,Guy Martin thinks they are o.k?,but he probably gets paid to say that  not sure about road tyres,:dunno im using michelin pilots at the mo but these will need changing at some point soon and though they are a great tyre they can be a bit pricey when things are tight, the Maxxis are around £150 for both front and rear which seems pretty good if the tyres are o.k.

Im no Rossi so they wouldnt be getting much of a pasting,my cornering is like a 50p piece so it takes me awhile to wear the tyres down, just like to know if anybody has any experience with them good or bad? and ofcourse i want to be safe dont fancy a blowout or anything be very helpfull and might keep my missus happy if i can save some cash at the moment.

Thanks in advance if anybody replies

Redratbike swears by them....he has a mate that races on them.....so must be ok.
I know the price is better.

They always get good press, the test Guy Martin did was an independent one in PB so that was his true opinion.

Thanks i might give them a go,im going to see if i can find them cheaper though,a few other posts i have read on the zone seem to have found better prices than me,Guy martin seems like a genuine bloke so i reckon if he likes them they would be fine for me and my half arsed cornering.

i like them....warm up fast and grip just fine...i'm not a rossi but give them a reasonably hard time as i like a "spirited ride"...my mate races motards on them and another mate an ex-racer uk champ on lc's years back, rates them ...

mine were 144 fitted and balanced from FWR in london...they post out cheap

DK's do them for £124 and my local place will do them for £188 supplied balanced and fitted. Getting them done next week after hearing so much good stuff about them:thumbup

Just took this from the web site.

its always a wrech going onto another brand, I've been a diehard bridger fan , but I reckon these are next , even if its just to try them

Iv'e to read quite a few switching to maxxis,,,, and know one or two who have used them last season, they appear to have a good wear rate and grip and not forgetting the price ........

I'm going to try a set myself ....

That ad for £114.99 seems like a bargain would probably cost me that just to replace the rear michelin!,now i just need to starve the kids for a few weeks before the weather picks up, :roll
cheers for advice everyone

Ive not had them on a bike but when I was racing karts about 10 years ago we ran on maxxis tyres, they are involved in a lot of motorsport so come with a racing pedigree of sorts. Also i've not seen a bad review on them yet.

Let us know what you think of 'em if you try some

here a good deal on the super maxxis for the rsv £128 a pair

http://www.bitzforbikes.co.uk/Tyre_...nt_and_rear_radials).-ref-13021-9358-672.html

they are the sport touring tyre and should be good for road riding at that price.

i believe the ones GM tested were the Presa sport (ie. the top of the range sporty versions £143 a pair on same website) i've got them on mine and i'm impressed, they warm up quick and stick but if you do lots of motorway miles i expect they will square off quickly

maybe try the super maxxis for now until you feel that you would benefit from the shorter lasting but grippier presa's?

Cheers, i do alot of motorway miles so i think your right, the cheaper tyres are probably the better option for me,i think i will be swapping for Maxxis when i do change them best option at the mo i think.
