Mappings and chippings

Hello

My bike was pretty snatchy coming out of roundabouts and the like, so I was looking into ways to soften the power delivery- turns out i was on a modified sprocket set, so I went back to stock. But I was also told I could put it on map 2.

I understand the map thing, but want to know how it applies to my bike, the aprilia dealer said It was a chip, not customise-able in the ecu software, that I would have to order online (where from?), and have installed (how?soldering?).

Is this true for my bike?

It's all academic because I am mostly happy with the set-up now, but I am curious.

Gen 1 = chip
Gen 2 = map

Snatch throttle... I would check / set the throttle cable play. Depending on when it was last serviced then maybe throttle body balance / O2 etc...

Sorry, by snatchiness I meant too much immediate power at the back wheel, leaving me worried it'd wheelspin and overcompensating with clutch control, almost coasting round roundabouts. But it was solved when I went black to stock sprocket. It was 15/43 l believe, must have been a heavier fella owned it before me :)

Sorry, but I don't understand your comment about the sprockets and rider weight. :dunno

Are you sure you would'nt be better off with a nice little Honda?

Depends what you mean by 'better off', aprilia is italian after all ;) It was bad enough that I needed to change it, will leave it at that (maybe I am the only one here who commutes on my tuono?)

No. I commute on my Tuono every day in all weathers. You just get used to the power and ride accordingly... And try not to get caught speeding 0:)

Yeah I commute on mine 5 or 6 days a week 75k each way. My 07 throttle is pretty choppy at low engine revs , I just changed my riding style abit and keep it purring above 3 or 4 thousand and all is good. Dropping my grearing made a massive difference aswell

Sorry gray, didn't see this comment til now, d'probably just my wild imagination again but I was just being a bit glib, I found the power too much, thought maybe I was too light :) wishful thinking, I'm pretty fat myself :)
