Right, I'm thinking of changing my pipes (efter seeing some really nice aines on the photo thread). So here's a question ti you lot of T gurus.

Could I get away with just changing my cans or will I need to change the whole system. The cans I have on are "custom" shortened Akras. I think these are just a little to short.
It's a whole Akra system and has been "custom" mapped for the system and I'm led to believe it's fitted with a PC as well.

Any ideas?

Do you think other cans will slip on the Akra pipes no problem. I suppose it would be easy enough to sus oot.

Not 100% sure of the Akra full system link pipe diameter. CharleyTuono will know if it's the same as standard coz he's got that set up and he da man at Rocket Centre. Try Rmins or some standard cans, if they go on the link pipe it's happy days eh ;-]

I could try mi ain standard cans I suppose...doh! But fit aboot the mapping etc?

It will more than likely have had the map2 changed with the zorst. The pc set up will also probably be ok for the new cans. Just stick some new uns on and see how it is min.

SloMo...stick yer standard Akras oan wi tte baffles oot an gie her a good run tae see.....will either run Ok or mibbe like *****...that way ye,ll hae a bit o an idea how its gaun tae be afore splashin oot oan shiny shiny sparklie new jobs.

Get a tape measure on the link pipe......the original Akra full system uses 60mm headers (I think the more recent Evo system is back to 52mm) and the slips ons are only 52mm.

Akra slips ons (or any others) will not fit the original full systems headers & link pipes

They don't look like Akras to me Smin. The ends are wrong and their to fat.

The header looks like the standard Aprilia item. Look at some of the pictures of all the bikes parked together - it's identical to the others.
I reckon youv'e got a pair of cut down slip-on cans. So any slip on should fit.
Can't say if they are or are not genuine Akra's but I doubt they help the engine out - exhaust length does have an effect on performance etc.
If it has a PCIII fitted and has been mapped to suit those cans, then remove the PCIII when you replace the cans until you can get it re-mapped.
I doubt it has been re-mapped, if the owner knew enough to re-map, he would know enough not to go too short with the cans.

Ok I'll have a look. I can always put on the original system. I got the whole lot when I got the bike. It runs fine with the short cans, but I just think they look too short, so much so that they look like fat spannies. I'll get a better idea when I get back home again.

Full Akra system eh ???. Tell em their turds the lying errr turds. Normal collector pipe and fettled nobcan co with Akra stickers on jobbies innit.

Anyhoo, what you gettin ???
