Map2 and standard cans...

I've just bought an 06 T, I know that it has had LeoVince cans on in the past, and expect that it was switched onto map 2 to suit, the cans were obviously taken off when the bike was traded in but there is a posibility that the owner didn't bother with changing the maping.

is there any way of finding out if the bike is on map1 or map2, will it make any difference with the standard cans (I've no intention of putting aftermarket cans on it) and is it a dealer only thing to change which map it's on?

it's not a major issue if it is dealer only as I have one locally :thumbup

Running map2 with standard cans is ok, say, if you're just needing an MOT pass, then swap back to race pipes. If you intend to keep it standard, you'll be best going back to map1. I believe you run the risk of destroying the catalyst not doing so. And your bike will happily drink petrol, even more than usual!

The only proper way to tell is hooking up to the Axone device used at aprilia dealers. Something like £30 to swap? Am I right fellas?

runnin map 2 on standard cans is fine
map 1 is to make it legal emissions and map 2 is to make em run right

I put standard pipes on mine when i first got it and the T wouldn't rev cleanly past 7 thou. Carbon Cans back on and it's better though could probably do with checking over. The general view is that i'm running map 2 and way too rich with standard pipes......getting use to the noise now though !

nooooo, dont do it

it'll be fine

mine was ***** in this situation

:lol

thanks for taking the time to answer, the bike actually runs fineactually it pulls like a feckin train :D, I havn't noticed any poor running at higher revs but it's a lot lumpier at low speed than my Tuoldo was, maybe I just need to get used to it :thumbup
