OK guys. Help out a newbie. What exactly is Map 2?:confused By inference it would be an alternative to...Map 1. How can I check to see which map my bike is running? What are the pro's and con's?:dunno

ok, now i am no expert but here goes, my understanding is that::::: When your lovely, sexy, prilla leaves the facory with all standard bits on eg, exhausts-air filters etc...the ecu is programed with settings best for these items, we can call this map 1....
now when you get your lovely bike and you want more noise so you get some open cans and a nice throaty air filter your bike is now needing more air/fuel but map 1 will only give what its programed to give hence map 2 this is another computor program which will give the bike the extra air/fuel it needs to get the most out of your modifications........:thumbup

CD has pretty much covered it, if your bike has open cans it should have had this map 2 installed, this is normally done by an Aprilia dealer with an axone, to check it is done you either need to ask the previous owner or someone that would know, or take it to the dealer and ask them to check it out for you.

Has the bike any engine mods or non standard cans?

Yes, it has. It has the factory titanium can.:bounce I bought the bike from the original owner and I think he "self installed" the pipe. She runs so beutifully that I am reluctant to make any changes, but I do want to make sure she's running to her potential.:devious Since I've never been associated with an Italian bike, specifically of this heritage, I'm in the dark as to performance.:confused
The exhaust tip shows a slightly dark gray and is dry so I know that she's healthy as to plug heat range and mixture settings. I'm going to be very strict as to the maintenence schedule.
The gearing changes, 16/44 (mine is a 2000 rsvr, U.S. model) will probably be all I'll need to do.:woohoo

Thanks for the advice and explanations as to "Map2"
