MAP 1 OR 2? How do I know which map I'm using + how much to get it switched over?

Hi everyone,

Another thread which has probably died of old age,

Recently bought a Tuono R 1000 in standard trim as some of you may already know,

I have gone over the Bike with a tooth comb and found the standard exhausts are connected with springs which have the branded name "AKRAPOVIC" even though the exhausts are standard.

I am aware that you need Map 2 to run aftermarket exhausts & Map 1 for standard,

My worry is that the previous owner removed the Akrapovic exhausts & sold them separately as they are quite valuable, replaced the standard cans & didn't bother switching from map2 back to map1.

Is there any way of telling what Map the bike is using through the onboard computer?

I have just bought a set of Akrapovics off ebay and will be fitting them shortly, just want the bike to run right without causing any problems so any help would be appreciated.

If I have to get it changed over how much is the cost?

Thanks!

I might be wrong, but I believe if the green \ blue wire that goes to the ECU has been cut it will be on map 2.
Maybe someone with more knowledge will chip in.

Stick the cans on and see how it runs.

FFS yer ain't gonae blow it up.

As before mucker,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,all this info is on site,,,,,,,,or are yer jit a lazy fooker.

Get the fukk on it yersel.

I wont really matter if you,re running standard cans and map 2 mine was for 3 months with no ill effects.
map 1 is only for emissions and db rating.
Do not cut any wires or fook about with the wiring loom it is not beccessary , it will only open up a vipers nest of problems as the bike uses CAN BUS wiring system . (google it )
it cost me £15 at c and a superbikes in kings lynn for an ecu status check.

That is for the Gen1 Tuono,...the bike in question is a Gen2.
As in previous answers,do not cut any wiring out of the ecu, that is a big no,no.The bike will run fine on map 2 with standard cans. All map 2 does is richen the fuel mixture through the rev range.Map 1 exists for the bike to pass the tough Euro emission regs.
The only way to check the mapping is with an Axone meter at the dealers.

or Griff's.....if you fancy a wee spin from Kent

Thanks for the replies!

I got quoted £75 by Newcombe motorcycles in Chelmsford.

"We charge £75 for this we clear and update your clocks and can also set the bike on map 2 for you"

Seems a bit pricey and I don't know if its true about the clearing of the clocks?

Anyone shed any light on this.

I need to find someone or somewhere that can do it!

Thanks again guys,

WHERES GRIFF @!!

Griff is in Tamworth, ta Aprilia Performance. excellent bunch... watch out for service days.... they travel around the country to carry out work.

Ring his shop to see if anything planed near you.

Home - Aprilia Performance

If your due a service then a map check is carried out as part of the service...

When they connect the "axone" it shows which map & version is being used & shows all / any fault codes stored.
You can view some fault codes via your clocks & can also clear them using one of the menus on the clocks.
