I just tried to replace the oil pressure sensor on my 08 Tuono and without ANY force at all, it snapped off!!!

It was turning and turning very easy, but then SNAP

Any ideas of a solution here guys?

Go on eBay or a decent tool supplier and buy a set of Ezzi outs eBay no 260581337206

can yer get a centre punch to it, very gently like.



but as blade says... just be careful.

Eezi outs are no good for anything that has sheared off due to being seized in.If it broke off for other reasons you could be in with a chance, but whatever you do don't shear off an extractor in the sheared off remains or spark erosion will be your only option.

For that to snap lije it did it must have been damaged in some way previously? Using an easyout on tgat would be my 1st task, it looks like aluminium so if it is seized the easyout eill just spin anyway

I managed to get it out using a Torx socket bit, gently hammered that in, and unwound it

Panic over haha

But confused by the whole thing really?

I got the replacement sensor from Fowlers, and when I put it in it seemed to keep turning? so I though try a couple more turns (bear in mind it was not tight at this stage) and SNAP! it just fell apart!

But it's out now, and the old One is back in haha

I've got things out using the tang of a file many times , glad you got it

Glad to hear you succeeded.

Having worked on rounded out Allen bolts in the past, I found taping in Torx socket best option in first instance, with impact driver if need be. Alternatively, cut a slot using demel then try a flat screw driver. If that fails, try tapping with a punch at 45°. Eazi outs are good, but only if the thread is only light stuck, otherwise they break off... BUT you can drill Eazy outs out, using either a Recovery Bit (usually only available from USA suppliers) or a cobalt tipped 'drillalldrillbit' (Google it). I can attest the drillalldrillbit' will drill out a hardened Eazy out!

I have drilled through armoured steel and proper cap screws with the cobalt drills or black cat drills in the past, they are very good but very brittle and don't like any rough handling. Well done on getting the offending remains out without resorting to brute force.

Reckless, agreed! The cobalt drillalldrillbits I used were quite brittle too. The look like masonry drills, bit with cobalt end bits. They also 'grind' the metal rather than cutting like a conventional drill. The best technique was to use successive sizes to open the holes to correct size. Any judder would chip the cobalt bit.
