Magnetic oil drain plug socket size?

What is the size of the tool to the socket head for the oil drain plug? Closest i could find in my toolbox is 7/16, but it is a little to small.

Well 7/16" AF is 0.437" and as the engine will be metric my guess would be 12mm ( 0.472") if the 7/16" is a bit loose.

Sods law tho' they will have gone and put a ******* size in there just to make us buy an Apilia tool

I think i tried 12 mm also but only the 7/16 would get in. Maybe 15/32 would fit better if there is that size for that tool, or is that bigger then 12mm? I am not that into inches since we always have used metric size here. I did buy a new one since the other owners also did not have the right size and had ruined the socket.

I don't understand....the plug is a 6mm female hex arrangement and you're attacking it with a 12mm or 7/16s sae? If the part pictured is what I think it is, the only answer is a 6mm hex key. I just did the oil refresh last weekend, but mine is an '07. Any difference?

Just next to the engine mounted, cartridge-type oil filter? Not familiar with previous edition engines.......:dunno
