Hi all

I'm a new member to the forum - looks really great.

I have a 2003 Tuono Fighter which give me the most fun I have ever had on a bike! I love it!

I am going on a couple of trips this year to Ireland to a couple of road race meets and I want to get some luggage. I am torn between the Oxford X60 system which looks really good, and the somwhat more expensive Ventura System. One thing I should point out is that I have a non standard pillion seat - one with the same fittings but from a Mille. Looks fine but is a bit wider that the original seat, so much so that I can't fit a grab rail!

I have a few questions which I really hope I can get answers to:

1. Will the Oxford system burn on the exhaust?
2. Does anyone have experience of using the Oxford X60 on a Tuono?
3. Will the fact that I have a non standard seat effect the fitting of the Ventura system? (Don't know much about it and am unsure form the pics whether or not there are any under pillion seat fittings or not)

Cheers guys

Hi ndso20, and welcome.

I use Kriega but have some Oxford Sport panniers as well. I haven't used the Oxford on the Tuono but I have fitted them just to see - and they're too near the exhausts for my liking, even with the heat shields. I wouldn't want to see burning plastic in the mirrors as I toddle along.

As for the Oxford X60 - they look really nice, but before committing I'd ring or e-mail Oxford directly to get their thoughts on fitting to a Tuono.

Never used Ventura, but it has good reviews as well.
:cheers

Welcome ndso20

I use Kriega stuff personally, it's superb, well worth a look. Can't comment on any other options I'm afraid.

If the ventura kit fits your bike I would say it is a good choice, little bit expensive but very easy to put bags on and off. Also it does not effect the width of the bike so no problems filtering. They warn you not to go above 80mph with it on, bollocks, I had it fitted to a Hayabusa and have done silly speeds for prolonged time with no problems. (Obviously on the german autobahns ociffer)

I use the Ventura luggage on my 2009 Tuono. I would highly recomend it to anyone. No faffing about trying to tie/strap panniers/tailpacks etc on. Once the rails are fitted to the bike it's just a case of securing the pack rack and cliping on the bag. Takes less than 30 seconds!!! only downside I would say is they are not waterproof, although you can buy the waterproof covers for them.
I used this system on my last bike too, it was used on a few occasions to go to the 'Ring' and it was perfect even cruising the autobhan at over 170mph

had ventura on my old SV. very, very good kit. as said - only gripe is that it isnt waterproof.

The seat will not effect the Ventura system.
The rails fix to the rear footpeg bolt at the front and pass up between the undertray and the rear seat bodywork at the back. There is a plate that fixes to the the back of the subframe around the seat lock, it's a bit of a faff, but I used Ventura for 3 Euro trips on my Tuoldo, any speed you care to mention. I have it on the Gen 2 now, I wouldn't use anything else. Regards waterproofing, we use a plastic bag as a liner.

Awesome. I used to live in Ireland and the road racing there is all time. Say hi to my old comrades in the Loughshinny MSC, they put on the Killalane and Skerries 100. Say hi to big Graham. Ride safe and be forewarned, every ride to a race is like a race in itself, contagious as bird flu in a turkey factory. Cheers -Dave
