What are some suggested solutions for tank bags and some kind of tail bag. I don't do saddlebags or top cases. I travel light and just need room for when shedding layers and bike stuff (i.e. tools, cycle pump, chain lube, etc). Tank bag should fit a DSLR camera and a few lenses.

Thanks!

I'm guessing Tuono V4 as it's in the TV4 section :kicknuts

Welcome to the site and glad you got over your beemer problem :thumbup

I have nothing else of cvalue to add, but will hang around as I too could do with a little storage on the V4 for those longer trips.

Ive just bought one of these ...Kriega US20 Motorcycle DryBag , havent had a chance to try it yet but reviews are good and i think a few on here have it

The Pilgrim was using these when he was over here on oor fudfest, noo the rain on day1 and part of day2 wiz atrocious. Anyhoo he had nae probs wae his gear getting wet.

A big thumbs up from me fir the Kriega Kit. :thumbup

I'll go along with that Aldo, Kreiga is good stuff tail or tank is good.

I've got us10 and us20 tail packs which fasten together well and a r25 backpack. All kriega gear is completely waterproof. The tail packs worked better on my fireblade with a rentec rack as it avoided marking the paint. I've got nearly 2 weeks of gear in them.

I'm still to try loading them on the v4.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Going with the Kriega US30 Combo and tank strap for using the US10 portion as a tank bag.

Intro: Riding 40 years on progressively larger bikes. Taken 2 cross-country trips around US on a Yamaha 500 twin and R/65 Beemer. Now riding 3 and 4 day tours in California & Oregon. Been riding a Tiger 1050 lately, but always was interested in a Tuono. Local dealer (San Jose BMW) had a 2012 with 3600 miles and I offered 2/3 of list as a Christmas present and they took it (must have been a good boy!). Taking it out tomorrow for first long ride. Was trying to fix up some kind of tail pack and ended up ruining my Tiger luggage when it slid off to the side and the tire rubbed a hole in the side and melted the zipper! Didn't notice it as I was having too much fun working the throttle. End of intro (how was that Brooksy?)

I always use a squashy travel bag, in a bin liner (with the tie straps) then bungee it on.

Alternatively a decent back pack with the straps loose enough so the weight is resting on the seat instead of your shoulders is ok.

Both are no good if you travel with a pillion though.

can vouch for the Kriega, had one on our last trip 4,500k's and didn't move at all and water tight as well. Great stuff and so easy to clip on and off with the new straps they have to attach to the frame under the seat now

Good: the Aprillia tank bag; came with a nifty protective cover. Hi quality unit. Added a yucky looking midmarket tail bag, these two plenty for me for LD rides.

Better: slimline canvas backpack with a waist cinch for short d.

Best: flap pockets, like on the old Barbour jacket.

The original Hell's Angels here used to go X USA with nothing other than leathers, according to Sonny Barger.

that always helps me suck it up, when can't figure out where to put the spare DVD player.

I can also vouch for the Kriega drypacks, I have used the US20 & 30 combo and 2x US20 & 30 combo depending on length of time away and it has always served me well and kept the contents dry.
I have always used Bagster tank bags as I always fit a bagster tank cover on when touring and so can use one bag on different bikes!
