Low Speed Braking Vibration

I've recently fitted some new EBC pads to the front calipers of my '07 RSVR and changed the fluid - first pad change it's had. The brakes are working superbly well but I have noticed a loose feeling vibration through the bars while braking to a complete stop that starts below 5 mph.

Is this likely to be a disc issue, or could it be something to do with the forks? Or am I just being over sensitive?? :dowhat

first thing to do is make sure all the disc bobbins spin freely, common problem and will give a warped disc feel, lube them and get them spinning and free of road crud, make sure all the lube is off the discs and that may well be your problem

Nice one, I'll give that a bash with some brake cleaner - I can't get them to spin very easily at all right now but they do move backwards and forwards. What kind of grease would be best; copper or synthetic?

no grease, use wd40 to free them so they spin easily and make sure you use plenty of brake cleaner to remove all traces of wd40 or you will have worse brakes

I just had to do this (was badger that told me about it too lol) Mine was quite bad, esply at high speed. But my bobbins were solid. Tok 45mins to get them all spinning, and once they free`d up i went round them again a few days later. Its been better every day since.

Some feed back from how I did it. I used wd40, but make sure you`v got the little straw to aply it, as you only want a tiny amount in each bobbin.
You will need plenty of brake cleaner, a posi/phillips screw driver (thats jus what I used) thats a tightish fit to the hole, and front paddock stand makes it alot easier.
I would recommend unbolting the calipers and tucking them out of the way( I didnt and would have been alot easier if I had!), That way if you get carried away and turn the wheel, some residue on the discs could move through the pads. This way you can do the whole disc then clean it in one.

Put a cloth or rag etc over the end of the straw when you apply the wd to stop over spray.

(if you do un bolt the calipers Make sure you put some cloth round the back before you pull it off the disc, as the isn`t much clearance and would be easy to chip your rim)

Mine was loads better after this, and now I check them whenever I think of it ;)

yeah was about to say..if its not the bobbins its a warped disc, very common on brembo set ups, are they oe discs on their way out?
ck

I'm still getting the vibes after cleaning the discs - I've heard that this is just a trait of EBC pads. Guess I'll just have to splash out on genuine Brembos next time.

I will soon be taking of the after market brembos I have on and try the oe discs I got with the bike as i`m thinking warped...
Cleaining the bobbins was till a massive improvement mind.
