Hey guys.

Just want to make sure. My bike's not ready for season yet. Just ½ an hour ago i drained the oil, including the oil in the oilfilter housing.

While she stod there bleeding... BANG, the bike touched the ground - hard, it tipped and i inspected the damage while trying to clean up 3 litres of oil floating on the ground..

I noticed the clutch lever had broke, and i tried pulling it - no resistance at all. I'm a bit nervous that this ain't normal, and has been caused by the drop. Still, the fluid in the reservoir rises when the lever is pulled. I checked for leaks, but it was dark so i couldn't get a full vision of the clutch system, feeling with my hands i couldn't find any leaks as it seems.

Or is this normal when the engine has been drained for oil?

btw it's a 2003

Engine oil has nothing to do with the clutch presure, so the problem is elsewhere.

Try bleeding the clutch again.

I'd be checking the mastercylinder, piston seals etc first. If the bike flat dropped onto the clutch m/c then it would have operated the lever, and internal piston, seals in the system at speed far greater than normal operation, this is besides the impact of the fall.
As for the fluid level too rise in the resevoir when pulling in the lever on a closed leak free system, sounds incorrect to me...
it should remain level in my observations.
Good luck with investigating, let us know what you find.
Regards, Aus

sound pretty logic..

If the clutch piston has experienced far greater pressure than designed for the some fluid might have passed the sealing, creating vacuum in the reservoir - hence the "rising" level in the chamber. Therefore the level in the chamber is actually below normal, and when lever is pushed the level rises - only back to normal.

Bought some surroundsound fluid today, and ordered the missing parts.. so'll try fixing it later in the week...

about the oil and the clutch - i really couldn't make any sense either how the oil level could affect the clutch.. but you know.. have to consider every aspect..

Thanks guys

Check the resovoir on the clutch that the seal hasnt been turned inside out and that the actuating rod hasnt come a drift in the clutch lever.

Sounds to me that you need to bleed the clutch again.
