Loose bolts and second gear issues

Hi everyone, My name is Wes and I recently purchased an 07 rsv1000r. Brand new just newer sold. I have ridden the bike only 80kms now and have lost 3 bolts from the bike during that 1st ride. Minor 1 from heel heat shield, 1 from lower chain gaurd and 1 from plastic panel directly below gas tank. Just wanted to know if this has happenned to anyone else. In the mean time I'm checking and tightening up all allen bolts.
Also when i shift into second and release the clutch it falls back into neutral unless i maintain an upward pressure while releasing the clutch. Only happens in second gear. Bike only has 80kms on it. Is this just for break-in or is the clutch not adjusted from factory properly?

Welcome wes, you are doing the right thing by checking the bolts but it sound to me like they werent very tight from the dealers. I have lost a heel plate bolt but thats all in over 5000 miles.

The gearbox will be tight from new Wes, however it will loosen up with mileage. Ask your dealer to replace the bolts under warranty as they were obviously loose to begin with

Exactly. Get everything you can from the warrenty, because in 2 years time you will really really really miss having one!!!

Sprag anyone???

Welcome to the RSVzone Wes, and to the world of Aprilia RSVz..enjoy yer Ape bud!
It should definately select and stay in second gear matey..sounds like the selector is not shifting far enough to secure the gear..i'd be back into the dealer with that one fast as its just not right.

Thanks for all the advice, I almost just lost another bolt that secures the fairing in place today, went for a short 10 km ride to see if any more bolts started loosening up. Too cold to continue any further, -4c. I agree the bolts were just finger tight from the factory and have vibrated loose. I figure if the clutch doesn't fix itself after the initial break in, I'll be getting it seen to at the 1st service early spring and getting a list of bolts replaced. I've temporarily secured the plastics to the bike with universal allen bolts with combination of washers.
You would think a top bike like this would have been put together with a little more caution, I guess not!

Ha!, Thanks.... I never would have thought these bikes can be so problematic. Previously I owned a sv650s and my only concerns were what the next mod would be. Change the oil faithfully and just go. Fell in love with the v-twins and upgraded to the rsv. I plan on riding a lot over the next 2 years to take full advantage of the warranty!

Now that is italian.i have a 07 as well and i had a chipped front fender and warped front disc.not to mention the rear seat cowl fits alittle crappy.but you have to always check the faring bolts or put alittle lock tight on them,i still love :inlovethe bikes i have two 02& the 07 it is all sorted out now execpt for the top seat cover.:thumbup
