long or short Oil filter and Balancing the Throttle Bodies

Hi

Just bought an '03 RSV Gen 2 Factory track bike as didn't fancy risking the '07 Tuono R on track days - o.k. that doesn't make a lot of sense as there probably worth about the same - always fancied a factory so maybe my heart over-ruled my head on this one.

The RSV had a spot of gravel rash and hadn't been used for a couple of years so will change or the fluids and repair the fairing before it goes anywhere (will post pictures when its done).

Anyway as now have two to service I was going to try and do it myself and come up with some questions.

1) oil filters the RSV has a short cover on the oil filter and the T a long one - so I'm assuming (possibly unwisely) I need one each of the short and long filters (or a new long cover so I can fit long to both).

2) Balancing the throttle bodies - having read up on it on here and rsvzone I'm still not sure if its something I can do myself and if so what kit I need.

Cheers

Chris

1)I would stick to using the short filter on the RSV.You will gain absolutely nothing by converting to the longer filter.
2]To balance the RSV throttle bodies, you need to set the CO gas balance. The bit of kit you need is an Exhaust Gas Analyser. If you are not sure you can do the job yourself, best take it to someone who can.
Pretty sure that later bikes like the Gen2 Tuono and RSVR need balancing with the Axone meter.

Thankls

Halfords sell and EGA for about £75 would that be any good or does the Axone do more than just check the CO levels?

Anyone got any idea on the codes for the short oil filters the K&N site lists them for all years as KN-152

Cheers

Chris
