I have an EK Chain and my local mechanic said he cannot fit it because the DID Chain tool they have overtighten the pins?

Is this a known problem?

sounds like balls to me, my chain tool is for any chain type. maybe they did someones chain and ****** it up once before so are reluctant to do it now?!

buy a chain riveter of your own ,Im sure mine was only £50 ish,It can split chains too,bonus...

Just had my chain rivited at a shop, rode bike once and x rings have broke, muppets must of done it too tight. No angle grinder so will be sat in garage filing the heads off for half a hour or so. Some split links come with wire spacers you put in so you can't tighten them too tight. mine did ( think it was DID type ) the mechanic said he didn't need to use them as he's done loads of chains and knows what he's doing. Obviously not.

yeah thats what the bike mechanic said - the did tool is doing the rivets up too tight on the ek chains.
