I know that this is on the forum somewhere and I could probably read through all the posts and probably work it out with a manual or something but I am being lazy and would like to ask anyone who has done it for some help please.

I have an 08 RSVR and would like to link out the kill switch but still keep the warning light on the dashboard. If it can be done, can someone tell me how to do it please? As in, what colour wires to what?

Thank You

Sort of... I know that the side stand switch is very reliable on the newer bikes like mine but still would like to disable the kill engine facility on the side stand switch (as I feel its something else to go wrong) but the side stand to still operate the light on the dashboard if it is left down. Just after knowing if it can be done and the best way to get around it. Any help and advice appreciated. Thanks

It should be possible, but I wouldn't as it involves surgery to the wiring loom to kill the signal to the ecu but keep the signal to the dash, and I'm not sure how it works with the canbus or even if it works with the canbus.

Short version, leave it alone.

Thanks m8. Cheers for advice. Yes I am not touching it at the moment. I don't know how it works yet, either makes a circuit or breaks a circuit. I would imagine it breaks a circuit but being unsure at the moment I am not going to touch it. I might do if I can work out how it works and then try it out and then post it on the forum. I would think that doing some good permanent surgery will be the answer at some point but until I know what I am doing and where I am going to do it I will follow your advice and leave it alone for now.

Thinking about it I could probably disconnect the side stand and see what happens and take it from there. I reckon I could work out with the process of elimination how it works and what wires to join together. If I can find a wiring diagram that might help. I know that I have my aprilia disc somewhere. I would rather link it out further up the wiring loom if I can and do it properly so there is no chance of it failing on me.

I think that there is more chance of the side stand switch failing on me immobilising the bike than me driving off with the thing down or it falling down whilst riding

You are probably right....but if you look at the 2 worst case scenarios...
1) your switch circuit fails and you get stranded....you end up walking home or abandoning the bike.
2) you accidentally leave your stand down, ride off and get jacked into the air on the first left hander...you end up under an oncomming truck...very dead.

I know which one I'd sooner choose...;)
