The roads near me at the moment are clear from snow (ish) and apart from being a tad icy in places, all is well.
I decided (like on monday) that I would ride to work. It's only a couple of miles, so i pulled the CBR600 out of the garage and off I went.
After the usual shenangians getting out of my street, I pulled onto the main road, and noticed a local police skoda pulling onto the road. I then pulled to a stop at a junction and started onto the main road. Had a few issues with traction in the corner, then approached my turn off. I don't have indicators, so i used a hand signal, then put both hands back on the bars and completed the turn. Got another 100yrds when the blues and sirens came on, and I pulled over.
The 'older' of the 2 coppers then preceded with a barage of interesting and pointless questions:

I hope you don't have far to go?
Where are your mirrors?
Where are your indicators?
What is that can there? (in reference to the rockstar can covering the air resovoir on the shock)

I answered:

Just around the corner
Not a legal requirment
Um, also not a legal requirement
That is there as part of the paint job....

This did not placate him:

Where did you have this MOT'd?
Are they (the garage) friends of yours?
Well I think you should have mirrors.
How are you going to signal your turns?

I replied:

Nocton heath officer
No they are not friends of mine
Well officer, they still aren't a legal requirement despite your thoughts on the matter
By using my arm. (the legal way)

THEN he preceded to ask me again about my mirrors (third time now) and then said 'well its a bit dangerous to signal with your arm isnt it?'

I then sat in the back of the car (because he was cold) for 10mins whilst he tried to radio a traffic officer to find out what the law was. Call me a traditionalist, but if you don't know the law, shouldn't you not pull someone over in the first place....

He then stepped out and I spoke to the 'younger' of the 2. I told him straight up that his partner's attitude was unfriendly and aggresive (which he strongly denied). We had a more civil chat and then I waited another 10mins in the back of the car, at which point they got a call for a domestic disturbance, and told me to get out as they would have to attend this call....

Am I justified in thinking

A) The entire country has gone mad because of a little bit of snow
B) All coppers over a certain age have some sort of inferiority complex
C) I have a case for a complaint
D) I should burn down my local cop shop

Any thoughts?

I'd say yes complain about him, without complaints these guys never get pulled up. Be prepaired to get pulled a few times more by him though, I used to get pulled over all the time because I had a run in with a copper, he used to love pulling me over, got to be a running joke and he'd introduce me to whoever he was on shift with!

Yes coppers over a certain age do have some sort of complex, usually that they're crap and they're still on the streets while almost everyone else that started the same time as them has now moved up the ladder!

And before anyone thinks I'm having a pop, I used to work for merpol so I know exactly how some of my colleagues used to behave!

I would go with

A,Definately
B,Certainly
C,Don't see why not
D,If C doesn't work out but wear gloves and a balaclava!

You will probably find out next time you see him that his mum wouldnt let him have a Fs1e and bought him a Puch maxi instead :)

I took them to court a few years ago over an offence l didn't commit. The guy siad l had overtaken on a double white line which l hadn't

Anyway we all went to court and l defended myself armed with loads of evidence and photos and won the case. They wern't happy bunnies and stormed out of the court room.

The only thing is, l had to sell the bike pretty quick cos l knew they were going to be gunning for me. But still a good result at the end of the day.
