Right you hoe's who told me off last year about me ***** methods,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it worked :thumbup

Its a different ball game cleaning nekkids to faired bikes innit. Got to admit to becoming quite the obsessive these days, even had the old tooth brush out. Calipers off, wheels off, degrease, wash, polish. Nearly as much fun as coring cans.

This is me routine,
1- wheels and calipers taken off then cleaned with brake and clutch cleaner, washed with mild soap and water. When dry wipe round rims with acf.

2- tricky bits like inner swing arm and shock done with cheap wd40 then all bike cleaned with Castrol Greentec, rinsed off then when dry I've been spraying acf everywhere then polishing off with a decent rag. Shines like Aldo's nose after a session on the cider.

3- put wheels and calipers back on and clean all paw prints.

I'll still get slaughtered though for being a dirty *****, but I'm a better boy than last year.

What a tart, what you boys using ???

Yes Hector we know you use elbow grease and your grandads shirt.

fook me, where's Weeksy when you need him.

You'll be getting all misty eyed about ring spanners next.

Get yer arse on the bike and ride the fecker :thumbup
:yes

soonds a bitty anal an OCDish tae me Nob... thirs cleanin then thirs CLEANIN..

A couple of years ago,Mrs KB bought me a small bucket of MucOff products and a set of various brushes. They are great for getting in the nooks and crannies.I wash the bike with car shampoo (mucoff has run out long ago.) and warm water.I use a sponge and I try not to go too mad with the soapy water.Bike is then dried with a soft, clean cloth.Old tee shirts are good.Rear wheel is sprayed with WD40,then wiped off with another dry cloth. For the front wheel and brakes,I use Motul brake cleaner. Its the bollox. I only drop the wheels out once or twice a year for cleaning.

I swapped my XT for his Tuono about a year ago.

Lets just say the T is a lot dirtier than it was when it was his!!

Ive had good luck cleaning most bikes with wheel cleaner for ALL wheels. (some can and will ruin finishes) Cleans off brake dust most chain lubes and crud without harming a thing. Again it'll sy safe for all wheels. Once the swinger and wheels are clean I wash with a mild auto wash/polish combination. Blow dry with a quick dust off of compressed air careful to NOT blow water into electrics, ride after a warmup at a "liesurely" 140mph and all good. And yes Nob, a bit much but to each 'is own.

Aaaah fuhhin ell, Weeksy. Now he even polished everything after washing. Swing arm off never mind the wheels. Oreet Weeksy, wonder what he's up to.

Well I swapped my XT660X for his T, but I bet he didn't keep it for long!

He didn't, if I tell him theirs cleaning talk on here he might look in ;-]

Don't do that - I might get a row for not keeping it as ridiculously clean as he did!!

I couldn't take the wheels off etc. even if I wanted to.

I use car shampoo and a microfiber glove. No pressure wash, I pour water onto the T, trying to avoid electrical components.
For the wheels, I use a wheel brush and car shampoo or wheel cleaner, depending on how dirty they are.
I dry it with a microfiber towel. Then I apply either a sealant ( Grojet ) or a wax; I use wax more often, as the sealant has a longer "life", it does not need to be applied very often.
If dirt spots remain on the wheels, WD40 and a soft cloth do the trick.

If I spend more than 1/2 hr cleaning a bike it's very lucky. Still that's better than the car gets, which is never. It's so damp here, that the car has algea growing on it.
As long as all the bits that need lube have it, the brakes are working and the seat's clean, what's the point of all the time wasting polishing stuff. Buy a Hardley Moving if that's your thing.

not had to wash mine yet as i only got it on wednesday , but the last time i cleaned the car fiat grande sporting (sold to buy the bike) it took me 4 hours so iam sure the T in good hands

4 hours to clean a car? Boy, you know how to have a good time. Leave the sodding thing dirty and do something more interesting, life is way too short to be feckin around with buckets and sponges.

proofs in the pudding because i decided to sell it that day and with in 12 hours it had gone on a free piston heads advert for £500 more than the going rate!
double boom

I take it you ride the same roads that Garry and I do Etwin, Trough of Bowland, Wales, etc and further afield, and theirs one thing for sure if you rip round the Trough. You need to clean yer steed after it. Especially if you ride occasionally through the winter.

Makes it more appealing when you see it anyroad in my opinion, nice clean bike ready to rock, nowt better.
