Leo swing arm clearance?

A

A303

Just bought a Leo Vince can and link pipe off a member on here (he got it with the bike and had never fitted it). Put it on but didn't ride it as, in standard position, the swing arm would have clouted the can as soon as I went over a bump.
The reason I checked is that I was chatting to another guy a while back with the same problem.
I've ordered an offset strap and will space it out as needs be - bit strange for such a respected brand though.
Anyone else had an issue with LV cans on a Mille?

Mine came with it on and there are no marks on the swingarm to suggest he ever had a problem

They sound awesome with no baffles:pirate

Thanks mate. Any fuelling issues with it on?

I got Griff round within weeks of getting it for a throttle body set up as it was guzzling fuel. My plugs were jet black with crap. Now they're running fine and getting a good range of about 120-130 a tank compared to a max of 90 before.
Running standard airbox as well

Mine on the left and a new one on the right

Don't know if these are of any help to show how it sits on my bike

Thanks mate.
That looks pretty close as well (nice polished swinger BTW:thumbup) - got the off-set strap from Beowolf today - well-built bit of kit and cheap - so will try it over the weekend.
If I'd have left it as it was I reckon the can would have been touching the swingarm with just my weight on the bike. Doesn't look to have been bent either. Weird.:dunno
But like I say, not the first such problem I've heard of.

and I had actually pulled over and stopped my bike to wait for you

I'll get out tomorrow and take some measurements to see how close I get with me sitting on it

I do enjoy using autosol

Leo-Vinci

Got the twin cans on mine (06) and they came with spacers to push the cans out, as they'd hit the swinging arm without..

I purchased a used one off eBay and it did come with a spacer but my swingarm was still hitting, put a few tiny dings into it, very frustrating.

I ended up removing the Exhaust bracket from the Subframe and added several washers to shimm it out more, I haven't had any problems since but I always find myself checking it...

Interesting - I've managed to get mine to clear but it took the offset strap and several washers. I thought it might be because I've got swing arm protectors on but obviously not.

I wouldn't think it makes a difference but mine is the R model, so the exhaust bracket is a little different. But I would doubt it moves the pipe over compared to the brackets with passenger pegs.

Clearance is still pretty tight, I put a sticker on the swing arm for now so I could see if it's still hitting, but this is less than ideal.
Any tips on how to check if it clears? I have tried rulers and a straight edge but the swing arm is slightly angled on the side, so I'm never sure if I'm checking the actual travel of the swing arm or if I'm angeling inwards.

I just looked at it from above leaning over the seat while compressing the suspension with my considerable paunch - seemed to work.

I'm going to have to work on my paunch, I'm only a hair over 70kg when soaking wet. :eek:ops

I'll get a buddy to help compress the suspension, thanks! :thumbup
