Picked up RSVR Mille today, seems to be leaking fuel from the filler cap, got fuel all over my groin. Is this common & any ideas how it can be cured?

is there a rubber gasket under filler take it off and check

I'll take it off to check.I know the tank has been resprayed so quite likely the problem. I take it they're pretty generic & any bike shop should have one.

Hi mate,

I have an 06 RSV and had a similar problem but not too that extreme that my balls got soaked. If you remove the red retainer that holds the fuel tank seal in place(If there is one there) and then I placed a second seal under the first between the seal and the metal washer. The seal was thinner that orginal but with both together I now don't leak fuel onto tank even if I brim the tank on refil. Sorry no photos and I'm not at home.

Hope this helps mate.:thumbup

Well as predicted the neck seal was missing & couldn't get one from local bike shop so have had to order one from Aprilia dealership. should be a couple of days. bit pissed off because wanted to use this weekend. I did find a rubber seal that I adapted for the meantime but doesn't seem to work. Brim filled the tank & problem still there. Shall have a look at toptiff suggestion tomorrow as I thought my temporary seal would have been good enough so leak maybe through the seal on the actual hinged cap itself. Difficult to inspect whilst trying to cause enough momentum for the fuel to surge whilst accelelerating & keep eyes on the road at the same time to find out exactly where the leak is coming from.

Got exactly the same problem with my '05 R - I need to get around to having a look, but in the meantime I just make sure I don't fill the tank more than about 3/4 full, otherwise my ****** stink of petrol...
