Got some fuel leaking from the vent pipe to my fuel tank.
I'm guessing the fuel hose inside the tank has deteriorated.
I have ordered some submersible fuel hose to replace the bad hose.

Anything else I should order prior to opening the tank (clamps, seals etc... ?)

Ordered the hose here (its harder finding submersible fuel hose than you would think.)

Yes it is hard to find..

Pretty easy really..drain tank, remove cap and surround then remove pump.

But is yours metal or plastic. As plastic can be a sod to reseal around the tank

Metal tank on mine, so should give me less trouble.
I'll change the fuel filter while I have it apart.

Thats correct, oddly enough when I purchased the bike I was looking for a gen 1 as I had read a lot about the plastic fuel tanks on the gen 2.

Looks like im going to have a day of motorcycle maintenance after glastonbury.
Oil and oil filter change
Oil pressure switch to replace
Cooling fan switch to replace
Fuel tank vent pipe leak to fix
Back brake to bleed.

Hopefully thats all it will need this summer :/

Nice one rumple! I changed my fuel pump a few days ago and woke up today to find the bike had pi$$ ed itself. Been trying to find replacement hoses all day. After a bunch of dead links and overpriced parts, found your link. Prob solved. Cheers all

The inner pipe of the tank on the breathers has to be a ptfe based type pipe. Just been through this with one of my aprilia's.

It has to be able to resist fuel on the exterior of the pipe as well as the inner.

I bought some from hose direct at harworth a couple of months ago? He will know what you are talking about if you mention jay's aprilia tank?

Paul moon is the owner 01302746969.tell him you will need 12mm bore braided with stainless jubilee clips.

Well guys, I don't know what happend but I ordered your recommended hose about a year ago and had the same trouble within a month. Only just gotten around to fix it and this is what I've found in my fuel tank:

So not so very useable in the fueltank I guess

I reused the original stuff that was in the tank. Just snipped off the damaged parts which luckily were at the end of the hose where it fits onto the fuel cap end then refitted it. Touch wood, its been fine since.

Ahhh man, that's not good. I bought the same hoses mate. Mine lasted about a month too. Haven't checked since as i guessed as much. My fuel tank has serious rust problems now too, pinhole leaks, so after replacing the pump, hoses etc, it's looking a bit dire for my old ape now...

Thanks for the feedback, I just dropped the pump out of mine to check after reading this but my hoses still look as good as they did when I put them in which was almost a year ago.
I would definitely complain to merlinmotorsport and send them these pictures, also check your receipt again the hose to make sure they sent you the correct hose if you still have any emails confirmations etc...

From your pictures it looks like your hose is cohline 2337 which I think is brake fluid resistant not fuel resistant, I think it should be cohline 2190 for fuel (don't quote me on this)

Hi guys,

I just picked up a blue RSVR that seems to smell of fuel while riding,Closer inspection led me to see that anything over a 10er ands he pissed out fuel,After looking on the RSVR.net and here it seems it was same issue as guys,

Lucky I have a metal tank,so no resealing the fuel pump etc,Anyhows checked and there all degraded at the top.

Anyhows griffs putting me together a little kit aprilia performance so give him a call if your struggling for correct bits!

Hi does any one know were I can pick up the 2 outside over flow pipes from or something similar, one is split and I'm fitting a jester kit so will need the right size pipe length is not an issue as I will have to re route the pipe as the sub frame is different from the original. Cheers in advance

Are they the 2.small pipes outside the tank that go.through the undertray...give aprilia performance a call

as above mate griffs got its all even with a terrible not tech description he knows the bike inside ou
word of warning the the pipes griff supply are alot thicker which isn't a problem on the tank end as the connections are far apart but at the fuel pump end the connections are close. The pipes fit fine but you cant fit jubilee's or those crimp type fasteners without distorting the pipes shape (which happened to me causing a leak) after much thinking and playing about my uncle suggest lockwire ! (which u use on race bikes) and its worked a treat not one leak and it fits inbewteen the tight gap and give just about enuff tension to hold it on with some force mate.

Sorry just re-read that take the old ones into any motor spares shop they should be able to supply the right diameter by the metre

Mark is correct - if its the pipes which are external to the tank they have no requirement or need to be submersible in fuel. Any fuel pipe/hose of the correct size will be fine. :thumbup
