My mate got flooded out five weeks since,he had a newish vmax ,it got written off .Bike was near new and cost £17000,insurance told him most he was entitled to was 7k salvage price,,after three weeks of calls including them saying there was a clause in policy that it's over six months old so that's all you're getting,he replied it's actually five months two weeks, they rang back(week later) to say we found another clause that you are not first owner and bikes an ex demonstrated,he said you're making that up cos v5 stated my mate was first owner,,,they rang a week later and apologised and are finding him a new vmax,,,,so if he had just rolled over he would be ten k out of pocket..PS he's still waiting for house insurance to be sorted with L V ,,been with them twenty five years as well..Barstewards

Sounds typical for some insurers. As we all know, it's a real game getting a reasonable price and then getting a payout with so many insurers!

Hope his house isn't over 6 months old or he might only get 50% of the value! (Joke... hopefully!) :crazy

Unbelievable aren't they, you get a renewal weeks before it's due with there price but wait weeks to get a payout at your price and then they try to shaft you, tossers :thumbdown

It pisses me off when they send you a renewal notice two weeks before the start date and say thank you for staying with us even if you haven't agreed to and the premium has went up. Happened to me in December when my TTR renewal came in, an interesting phone call which lead to a drop in price and an apology.

I was knocked off my Zzr which was written off, Carole Nash paid out top book price less excess in less than 2 months, I didn't even haggle, after all, the bike cost less than half of book price.
Injury and uninsured loss claim still going on, it's only been six months though

At the end of the day all insurance co,s are just after your money , the less they have to pay out the better it is for the company coffers .

All insurance companies are bastards to deal with when a claim arises and actual real world values are hanging in the balance at their discretion .
they are all so keen and caring when they are offering their services , and couldnt give **** about honouring their obligations as insurers .

scumbags , the lot of them . along with estate agents , solicitors ,and parking attendants .

rant over , sorry
