I have a 2001 Mille I was riding the other day and the bike lost loads of power and then a knocking noise started it sort of knocks from the top end when the revs drop any ideas not sure how to upload videos here either

I must admit having a spare engine (or 2) is a good idea !
Ebay is good for them (you just have the possibility it's as bad as the one on the bike !

Here is my spare !
Use a screw driver etc to see if you can locate the noise location. Most likely problem ares are the starter clutch, the heads , or the clutch , perhaps locate the noise first ?

Yea I'm with you on that now! Working late till Saturday will strip the fairings Sunday get a better idea of where the noise is coming from. How much did you pay for it looking on eBay around 400

I paid £400 for it in January,(ebay) I wanted the better RP engine (bigger valves more power) and I wanted one that hadn't had the good bits removed !
Ie injectors, starter, and all the sensors and pipes. I now have lots of spares !
The plan is to get the spare ported and tuned etc when it's cold outside. I've sourced larger 57mm throttle bodies and the wiring to fit the gen 1 loom.
There are always a few engines around, some are fitting a gen 2 , using the generator etc from a gen 1. Winter the engines seem to be cheaper !

Yea I have 57s on mine with a evo air box. I've read up about the gen2 but don't want the hassle just another motor I can bolt straight in to be honest. can't seem to find out where it's coming from excactly still. I'm going to take the throttle bodies and rocker covers off see if I can notice anything obvious if not I'll remove the engine and wait till I source s new one.
