Getting a bit of airtime on the Bonnie.

Cant remember if it was when I blew it up or crashed the Bonnie,I bought this Yam XS250 to get me to work.Fookin thing was only a 250 but wider and heavier than the Trumpet.

My 1st wife nagged me sensless to sell the Triumph and I regretted it ever since.Fast forward to 2009 and once again,I'm the proud owner of a '79 T140D.
(I'm not usually bald, its a result of some hefty chemo)

I'll do a part 2,when I find some more pics,.....think they may be in the loft.Probably have to wait untill the weekend.

Well done mate, keep 'em coming!

The frames of the 140's were way better handling wise than those early OIF 120's and the like (like mine). Mine had a twin disc Suzuki 'Kettle' front end fitted too - not entirely in keeping with tradition but better than the conical hub for sure!!!

Good snaps mate and hope your hair grows back soon, it's getting colder you know!

Wouldn't worry about the baldness KB, I bet nearly 75% are bald on here, even Evlin. You wanna see Garry fook me talk about Kojak. And ChrisBuk ???????? haha you can get Sky tv of his yed.

I had a mate who was a Bonnie fanatic, until we all went to the 1980 GP at Silverstone to watch Bazza retire after 3 laps

I over revved my Honda 750 doing a burnout in the town square (Brackley?) it popped out of gear and went around the Tacho to somewhere around the O on HONDA. It rattled like a bag of spanners after that - I had bent 4 valves.

On the way home on Sunday I rode past Mark (didn't see him) at the side of the road re bolting something back on the old 650 of his, rattling away like ****, but it still did 90 odd all the way home.

He was so pissed off he went out and bought the Yamaha XJ650 he following summer

I can relate to that. I was forever bolting the exhausts back on to my Triton. I finished running it in after its final rebuild to my first ever trackday (Ipswich to Cadwell) and must have put the bloody things back on two or three times on the way there, and two or three more on the way back. Incredibly they didn't come off whilst on track! My trusty ZXR 750 followed quite soon after that experience... wish I still had it now though :(

Yeah, the '77 Bonnie was the worst for breaking/loosening stuff.
I went through 3 sets of exhaust headers,.....fookin brackets from the crankcases used to break and cause the front pipes to shear.:mad:Either that,or the footrest bolts came undone, making the weight of the silencer to crack the pipe.Fookiin indicators were forever coming loose. The final straw was when the wiring loom chafed through onto the frame and left me stranded in the dark with no engine or lights.
The 79 bike had a softer motor and was a lot better built,....it was just my incompetance as a mechanic that fooked it.;)

Some nice shots there laddy buck. Sorry to hear about the chemo. Lil sis is in the same boat right now. Be a tuff ******* and never give up!!
