Just picked up my first Aprilia

I just bought a 2008 Bol D’Or RSVR Mille from a great guy and collector in West Virginia. I've had 23 bikes since I was 6 and this is my first Italian, so I'm really looking forward to learning a lot about it! I had a RC51 years ago, so that was my closest experience to this bike. My first ride was a 400 mile road trip getting it back to my parents place in Kentucky, so that was a lot of fun and a good time getting to know the bike! It only had 4,700 miles on it when I picked it up and is in awesome shape, so I was super lucky finding this one for sure! We went to the Isle of Man TT races this year (definitely a milestone trip) and I saw one just like it and immediately fell in love! When I got back I started the search for one, and couldn't believe when this one popped up! It's very stock except for an awesome set of really open MIVV exhaust that make the bike sound perfect!! Sounds like only 200 were made in this paint scheme and only about 20 hit the US, so that's pretty cool! I'm looking forward to learning a lot about the bikes!

Yeah, I thought I'd better join both forums since I'm such a bike and internet junkie!! ;-)

I'll get a video clip of it running next time I'm back in Kentucky...I live in Alaska and can only get back down every few months. Hopefully it won't be too long!

Nice looking bike and in cracking condition.
What did you think of the IOM TT, long trip for you but I hope enjoyed it.
Enjoy your bike.

Thanks! I'm loving the bike for sure!!

The IOM TT was unbelievable! I've been riding since I was 6 (am 49 now) and can't even begin to imagine doing what they do on their bikes, and in those conditions! It really is life and death during every run and the most extreme form of racing that I've ever seen! It's definitely a repeat destination for us - hopefully we'll be able to make it happen again in 2018! Luckily I got some great photos and videos while there...

Hi Sonny, got some good pictures there, I been going there a long time now. I had little break for a while then went back in 2009.
I was a race mechanic for my friend who raced there five times.
Unfortunately he passed away this year after a long battle.
But it's still always a shock to the system when get there and watch it. Me and my brother who has a house over there met some Canadians and we took around for the day in the van so they could see some more places to watch.
Although it was a long way for them too, they also said they would return to watch.
They also said that YouTube doesn't prepare you for the shock.
It's brutal racing on a beautiful Island.
If you do come in 18 I will probably see you there, let us know.
Let's hope you don't start spending money like a lot of us on the bike.
But no doubt you will.

I plan to keep the bike pretty stock (or as it is now) so hopefully any $$ spent will be on minor repairs! I've got other projects to throw money at!

Our first day, we went down about 1/4 mile from the start line for a practice round...When the first bikes came by, I'll never forget the look on my girlfriend's face when she turned to look at me after the first bike came by!! It was priceless! Holy crap were they ever flying, and they had barely started their run!!

You're right about it being a beautiful island - The landscape is constantly changing! And the local people and spectators were awesome! It was an experience of a lifetime for sure!!

Stunning bike, I was looking for this limited edition model as well but couldn't find a genuine one anywhere. Your one looks like it's in mint shape.

Thanks. I hadn't seen the color scheme before this summer, and fell in love with it when I ran into one - I've heard they only made 200 in the color. I got super lucky finding one in such great shape and low miles! The guy I bought it from was a collector and had 13 bikes, so I can see why the miles were so low!

Good luck with the search!
