Hi all just a quick note to say hi and ask about the new 2008 rsv has any 1 had any probs with it or any comments about it its the R :dowhat
my bike life has been a ninja 9 e1 and a yamaha R1 2003 at this time but was looking at getting a rsv lots of people tell me stick with R1 it faster at the top and quicker from 0-100 the Aprillia shop near me dont do test rides ;-( so i need a bit of input PLEASE
try to be open and not just tell me the RSV it top dog ETC ETC it a good few £££££ on just a mmmm like the look of that

last thing i did ask at the show room the dif from the r and the fact he said it is carbon front bits and gold frame and that about it .If i dont do track days i wont miss the extra bits and save a few bob ????? mmmmmm

You really need to take one for a ride..you will see that they are nothing like an R1. The riding position is not for everyone and getting used to riding a V-Twin can be alien for awhile. Find yerself a ride if you can.

The R1 probably is faster top end and 0-100, but biking (to me anyways) is not all about how fast it does top end....how often are you gonna do that anyway on the road :dunno I've never ridden an R1 but theres quite a few on here who have owned them and they will probably all tell you the RSV is probably a better bike for our roads..more rideability . The RSV will do 170 how much faster do you want to go :biggrin

Welcome to the Zone :thumbup

like you said speed is not every thing but due to using it for work monday to Friday i find the R1 is hard work in towns etc that why i was looking @ the RSV for low end fun i hope its got it :thumbup:confused

If it hasnt already been done to the RSV you are buying, then change the sprockets/gearing, as its too tall for round town. This is the best off first mod. for the RSVz
Currently running 16/44T sprockets on mine, instead of the std. 17/42, thats on an 02 RSV
I know very little of the newer models..havn't even ridden one :D
16/44 is acceleration wheelies with ease and way friendly round town...you lose bugger all orf the top end.
