Hi all, bought my RSV4 Factory APRC on the weekend with a massive 380 miles on it! I've got a few questions before I continue to read the manual (got to do it slowly to take it all in! lol)

1. Does a service light come on for the 1st service?
2. Do I really need a racing ECU?
3. If I get an akrapovic end can does it need to be re-mapped/dyno?
4. Has anybody fitted a rear light with built in indicators, I seem to be reading posts everywhere saying you can't fit them to this model as the indicators won't work?
5. What tail tidy's look good and are well built.
6. Are R&G the best protectors for this bike? (They've worked well for me in the past)
7. Are the titan levers any good, I always get pazzo but these are £50 cheaper.
8. What web sites are good for parts, I know AF1 are good but their based in the states so there will be import tax on top.

Any other advice/recommendations would be welcomed, I won't be putting it on track this year as I'll keep my other bike for that.

Cheers in advance all

Cheers mate, but I've found that unless AF1 sell the parts I don't get a response, will try the other site.

That's the one I meant. I've tried to a few posts and found that unless they sell the item then they don'r respond, my mate has been on there for a while and said the same, shame really. I was hoping for a general forum not a sales forum.

Hi Cei
I have a 2010 Rsv4 and like yourself always use R&G until I came across a company called EVOTECH ,the goods are top quality and the service is first class so I would recommend them.I have levers(adjustable, folding)and crash bungs aswell as fork and swingarm protectors from them ,all top stuff.I dealt with a guy called Garry (correct spelling)and he is very informative ,they are based just down the road from Cadwel park.
As for race Ecu I have a Austin Racing can fitted which I love and I have standard Ecu and it runs great as you dont have to play around with anything although for max performance and economy a race ECU would benifit .Me personally ,I'm happy with how my Rsv4 runs and I get an additional 4 bhp with the can slotted straight on which to be honest I'm having enough fun trying to use the 185bhp it comes with as standard and never really needed the added horses it was more a case of the original dustbin connected to the bike just had to be replaced to keep the looks/lines looking good .
Hope this helps,Have fun
Tom..

Hi Tom,

thanks for the reply mate, with regards to the race ECU I've read so many confusing posts on AF1 that say that if you put a new end can on then you must replace the ECU, you obviously haven't so has the bike been serviced with a official dealer after fitting this and did they recommend anything? if not I'll simply buy the exhaust as it will save buying the ECU and taking it into the dealer as they all state to put it on their machine I think that's called navigator/axone.

I'm like you and will be simply looking for looks on this bike, the performance is enough and I have a track bike for thrashing around.

Cheers

dude im sure i can help...

the ECU isnt essential but it sure as well will make the bike go faster...the correct maps for a bike with open end cans will improve the performance, but you can run without one ! An Dynojet PCV or a Bazzaz system will improve things just as well though!

~Rand G stuff unbeatable weve raced our R6 in the BSB superstock paddock and it lasted two seasons thanks to that gear!

ive not seen them for sale but we have a V4 with them workin so it can be done!

the service light is a little spanner symbol ....If theres an engine management issue it comes up with "service" some guys can get this confused! it will come up for first service milage!

If your used to Pazzo levers then stick to em dude...the Titax levers are ok but the profile around the front edge of the lever is squarer and so took me a bit of geting used too. but i run pazzos on mine!

We can supply you with anything you need for your V4 not a problem...(shamless plug:devious)

weve even built a few specials for people!
hope i can help

Cheers

Griff is correct in saying that you do not need to physically purchase a race ECU.......you can have you ECU converted to race spec which will have all the maps that the race ECU has for approx half the price.

RACE ECU £320, race conversion/remap approx £150 including setup/initialisation. Windy Corner in Barwell can do this for you

You can also tell it has been done when the ignition is switched on the dash says RACE on it.

Also to add to Griff`s post the SPANNER is service light, SERVICE means you have an engine management issue & need it plugging , URGENT SERVICE means you have a more serious issue & will probably go into limp home mode

Hi, I've just bought a second hand RSV4 Factory APRC and it had 3 months manufacturers warranty left and I was able to transfer the warranty to me. I called Aprilia UK and registered that I was the new owner and the warranty was automatically tranferred. I hope that helps.
Regards
Kevin

I've done the rear light conversion and the indicators work fine. I used a tail tidy from the u.s. ( it was about 15 quid delivered). Although you'll have to change it for an mot to go through. Looks the ****.

Mine is a 2010 factory non aprc but that shouldn't change anything I wouldn't have thought.

Hi cei
For engine protection i uses gb covers Nd flyjammer frame sliders
Evotech numberplate tidy and axle sliders and brembo rcs brake and clutch
Levers.
Running an AR can with standard ecu and map
Integrated tail light off ebay from oz
Cheers
