Just bought one...never ridden one

So I've just bought an 06 Tuono. Never even ridden one. Never even ridden a Vee twin. I also have a 954 Fireblade, a BMW R1200s and my wife's 675 Daytona.

Hopefully I'll get it delivered early next week.

What have I let myself in for?

What makes it so good, What will I love about it?

Not that I'm not already like a 2yr old days before Christmas or anything...lets see how much excitement I can bare! :thumbup

I'll tell you what you've let yourself in for - big, big grins during and after every ride. :thumbup
Hitting the rev limiter until you get used to the 'feel' of a revving twin
Coming to a halt yards and yards before you really want to until you used to the engine braking power
Being able to pile the power on at silly lean angles
Loving the deep, booming exhaust note (providing the original cans have been ditched)
Easy wheelies

I think that covers why we love 'em too.

Post a piccie or two when you get it. Oh, and welcome to the forum

I couldn't agree more with Bob, my second Tuono later and I'm still wearing a permanent huge grin AND I have to walk past my R1 to reach it, the Tuono that is!!!!!!!!

Here it is! Hope to get it next week...maybe sooner.

What do they rev to? 10000?

Beemer only revs to 8500, Blade to 11500 so should get on with it just fine.

Is it possible to tour on them? What are they like on motorways?

Nice looking bike stoney.

Yes, they're OK for touring. Motorways, hhmmmm, some riders put a 'taller' screen on. As mine is the 'older' model I actually have a bigger front fairing than yours , plus a double bubble screen and I can sit comfortably at 90mph. You realise of course that I am talking about on private motorways. I would never exceed the legal speed limit on public ones.:eek
When out for long rides with my friends (who have full on sports bikes) they always feel more uncomfortable than I do at the end of the ride.

The one I have bought has a slightly bigger screen on it already. By all accounts the buffeting isn't too bad on the 'newer' Tunonos.

I tend to use the Beemer for longer journeys, but It'd be nice to be able to ride down to Cadwell/Oulton park for the odd track day or to watch BSB on it. Again I usually use the Blade for trackdays but the Tuonos always seem to go pretty well so it be criminal not to stretch its legs a bit.

I'm off to the Ring in June too....I may be tempted....

...'spose i need to actually ride it first. It gets delivered on Saturday afternoon so Sunday will be the day!

Stoney, just get on it and ride , throw the others away, possibly not the 675, then you'll have a pair of matching grins!! neither the blade or the slippers hold a candle!!!!!!!!

I ain't getting rid of any bikes. The 'slipper' is a very quick road bike. It covers ground quicker than the Blade any day of the week. The Blade is a great track bike.

I cant wait to ride the Tuono and I'm sure the other two will do less milegae as a result.

Hi Stoney and welcome to the Zone,

Will it tour? - you ask - well here's some pictures of mine all ready for a tour of France and Italy in May - took it for a test run today to check stability- hence the muddy state it's in!

I can really recommend the Ventura rack and backpack system, pricey but a quality piece of kit!

Have fun!

Cheers, Rob

Crumbs - looks pretty substantial. Great looking bike by the way. I'm sure it suits the roads around Moffat brilliantly. I get up that way every so often to see my mate in Carluke, love the road from Moffat up to Biggar.

Thanks, next time you are up this way, check out the best road in the area - the road from Abington to Thornhill - awesome!

Better still, give me a call and I will ride it with you!

Rob

Not done that one. Looks fantastic on the map.

I'l let you know next time I'm up that way.

Hi stoney welcome to the zone.I bought my touno without a test ride, the looks and sound was enough. The dealer said something about no restrictor no ride!!You will never look back after the mighty T

Got my T last September, sold the CBR954 in November.
Kept the 1998 VFR. If I have to explain why you'll like it, you won't understand. A Sunday ride will be much more effective.
Enjoy, it should be easy to do. Hard to wipe off the grin.

WOW. Bike got delivered at 2pm by Karl at bikermovers - who I can highly recommend (thebikemovers.co.uk).

I took it straight out for a spin and was gobsmacked. The bike is incredible. Looks fantastic, not a mark on it and pratically brand new. Goes like stink and sounds like nothing I have ever heard before!

Cant wait for a proper ride tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats, Stoney, and get ready to be a very happy boy! If there's not a race airbox on her already, drop the cash and get one. It made a big impact on my '05, at least.

Cheers dude. Had the bike a few days now and loving it. I've posted a few pics in the pics section of a ride to Hawes yesterday if you want a gander.
