So.

Have sold my Tuono V4 and gone back to my roots........

MT 10 SP

250 mile review.

Impressive...

Right out of the crate the suspension feels really good.

It was set at the shop to A1 which is the firmer of the 2 "active" modes.

I have done around 250 miles of tight twisties and long sweepers and nothing unsettled it. really positive feed back and where I found this most noticeable was on the A93 south of the Glenshee Ski centre.
A very bumpy section combined with a lot of tight bends, but the SP handled it brilliantly without getting out of shape at all.

Admittedly, I am running the bike in, but I wasn't hanging around, just not bouncing it off the limiter.

Even with the stock tyres and rubber break pads the bike felt really positive and confidence inspiring.

The sexy wee Italian had a habit of grabbing you by the balls and forcing you to ride it hard

The SP is different.
A more "relaxed" riding position, slightly wider and higher bars give you a bit more room too, but when you want to get a wriggle on..........hud on tight

And another bonus...fuel light didn't come on until 117 miles

Looking forward to the first service and being a little more aggressive

Did you get airborne on that section mucker?

Ma machine is all over the joint, shaking it's head and wriggling like a crosser.

Fookin love it.

Of course not Aldo......I wasn't going fast enough :lol

Well maybe once or twice....

What was really noticeable was even land a little "crossed up" the suspension sorted it out instantly.

No head shake or bar oscillation at all. A really trick setup :thumbup

Van down to KD Motorcycles in Acrington to meet the new beast and return to Scotlandshire.

Can't get the SP for love nor money up here at the moment.

Great bike blade :thumbup

The roads and scenery up here are amazing .

Looked at this before buying the 2017 Tuono. I'd say they were pretty much on a par with regards to performance, electronics and suspension. The Tuono felt more like a converted sportsbike and the MT a genuine naked but the differences, for me at least, were very minimal. I stuck with the Tuono purely based on looks as I can't get away with the MT. That is purely subjective though.

Enjoy :thumbup

I can agree with all of that.

My Tuono V4 was setup to be ridden hard and like you say the differences are not much more than pub bragging rights to be honest.

I like the slightly more relaxed seating and bar position of the SP and I can comfortably ride it at a "normal" pace without feeling the need to go bansai every time I chuck a leg across it :lol

However, the more miles I put on it and the more I begin to open it up, the more I can feel that the SP too has a dark side, but it is deceptively quick.

I think that must be down to how composed it feels on the road as well as the massive mid range grunt.

Lovely looking bike mate. And its looks comfortable, that makes a huge difference, especially to an old fart like me, aching bones and joints. :yes
Enjoy it.:thumbup

Definitely a more comfortable riding position [emoji106]

1000 mile update

My MT-10-SP 1000 mile review.

Well, I have had the SP 10 days and it is now showing over 1000 miles.

The first 6,7 hundred were great, but the last few hundred have been something else.

As per my last review, I am really enjoying the slightly more relaxed seating position as compared to the Tuono V4.

The only issue that I have had is that I wasn't completely happy with the fit of the optional comfort seat from Yamaha.

It didn't quite line up as it should at the fuel tank and I think if I had left it there may have been some rubbing on the fuel tank paint.
So....email and pictures to KD Motorcycles and by return email a new one had been ordered and is on it's way to me.

That's customer service for you

Back to the bike......

The suspension as said before is sweet as

I haven't felt the need to adjust anything.
I have been switching between the 2 "active" modes depending on road surface and have no complaints at all. I am still running the OE s20's, which aren't the best tyre in the world, but to date they have handled everything that I have thrown at them. I can only put this down to the suspension.

The motor

What a peach of a motor the CP4 is ❤️

Torque, torque and more torque.

So responsive.
I have read that some people have issues with a snatchy throttle response on the standard MT-10 and some are reporting it on the SP too, but my throttle response is silky smooth.
No jerkiness, just a silky smooth transition when picking the throttle up again mid bend. Love it.

The are 4 different pwr modes.
1, Track
2, Standard
3, Touring
4, Rain

Again I have only used two of them, pwr1 and pwr2

All modes are full power, but the throttle response is different (so are tcs and ers settings)

I usually use pwr2 as this has a nice progressive throttle response.
All modes are customisable in terms of suspension and traction control settings.

The response and surge of power from the motor is amazing and combined with the throttle response and suspension it makes for some fun riding

Tyres will be getting changed to my favourite M7rr as soon as the rear wears out.

Front brake pads have been changed to Brembo SA compound as the OE pads feel a little wooden. The stopping power was fine, but the initial bite and feel from them was not so good.
Thanks for the tip Scott Couper
