LINCOLNSHIRE
Anyone fancy top of Scotland trip in a few weeks. 600miles approx from Lincoln.

A1 upto Richmond, then up to Penrith then Biggar (chippy South of Edinburgh), Abroath coast over the top to top of Loch Ness, down to RM memorial at Spean Bridge, back up other side of Loch Ness to J'O'G.

Rough it somewhere and come back on different roads.

Fancy seeing what the bikes like for 1200 miles. 2 day trip min.

Your're digressing fellas, I think i'm going to struggle but i like a challenge and i'll stop first anyway before i fall asleep in a ditch or at the side of a Loch. (or in it).

Give us a shout when you've got yer dates sorted, I'm just south of Glasgow wouldnae mind meeting up with you soft southern shandy drinkers for a blast:nana

You can show me how to cook deep fried mars bars or them meat pies with baked beans in:pirate

i'll give you a shout mate.

Got my dates sorted. 11th Sept till 13th Sept. Setting of early the Friday morning to get the A1 out of the way and into the highlands. :doug

My Route will be:

Lincoln A1 to Richmond.
Richmond A74 to Glasgow
Glasgow A85 to Fort William
Follow Loch Ness to Inverness then A9 upto Wick.

So if you see a red RSV (proberbly hear it first) clattering through the mountains, its me and i'm not stopping.

i'll be posting some pics when i get back.

when you say the route like that..it sounds so easy...lmao
gimme a shout once your past glasgow and maybe we can meet up for a brew

will do. :thumbup Little bit concerned about the frequency of petrol stations the further north i go?

Petrol stations??? not seen one yet and i've lived in the highlands all my life!

Myself and the girlfriend went up to J.O.G. and other places at the beginning of the week on our 2 honda CG's and the 780 mile trip cost us approx. £32 petrol each. Did i mention we left summer '05!:dowhat

Petrol stations you must be joking, they run their engines on coal and sheep *****.
I've heard the unleaded sheep ***** has a good octane rating though:nana

Phew fortunately i'm on nights those dates, or i might have had to think of a lame excuse for saying i couldn't go :biggrin i'd never have made that distance anyway in three days. Hope the weather holds up for you :thumbup

Sprocker, I've spoke to your boss and he's agreed to give you those dates off on full pay. The sauna will manage without you :laugh

Well i made it there and back in two days. :crazy My right hand fingers are numb and the pegs made the soles of my feet hurt. The bike didn't miss a beat though. 1200miles there and back. Stayed at a B&B in JOG that was like something from the fifties. Got a ticket for speeding along loch Lomond for coming too fast out of a built up area too soon. Heres the stats:

22hrs it took in total.
Average speed 56mph.
Total fuel cost £160.
SP30 £60
B&B £25
Tyres look a bit worse for wear.

run out of fuel like a **** coming out of Inverness on the A9. Plenty of bikes went past and didn't stop. :glare but this old chap gave me a lift back to the garage and then back to the bike. top fella! A9 from Inverness to Wick was the best road but the feds keep a high profile so you have to keep to 60mph in most places. But try riding it at a constant 60 without touching the brakes takes some nerve as its bend after bend.

Going up the A1 sent my vision blurred so i had to stop for a while to recompose. Dropped into Biggar to the Townhead chippy. Best fish and chips in the country they reckon. Satnav sent me down the M6 to Blackpool on the way back so i took a minor detour through Manchester to Lincoln. Got back at 1am this morning.

Didn't take too many pics as i didn't want to stop too much. I'll put them on the next post.
